Las Vegas Is Offering Free Weddings to Armed Forces Members on Veterans Day

This post was originally published on this site

This Veterans Day, members of the Armed Forces will get a big thank you for their service. The second-annual “Las Vegas Marries the Military” event will choose 25 couples to win a wedding or a vow renewal ceremony in November, completely free of charge.

On November 8, 2018, military members will be celebrated in Las Vegas with a free ceremony and joint reception with other military couples to start off Veterans Day weekend. Couples who qualify (at least one soon-to-be spouse needs to be a member of the U.S. military) can apply by submitting a 30 to 60 second video explaining to the selection committee what a Vegas wedding or vow renewal would mean to them.

“Veterans Day is one of our favorite holidays because it allows us to thank active-duty members and veterans, along with their families, for all of their sacrifice on our behalf,” Clark County Clerk Lynn Marie Goya said in a statement. “[This event] allows us to offer a tangible ‘thank you’ from our wedding community to these special couples.”

Each individual ceremony will take place on its own, where couples can choose from venues like grand resorts, country clubs, or chapels. Following the final ceremony, all of the newlyweds will celebrate their nuptials in a massive group reception.

The organization enlisted the help of 58 industry vendors in the Clark County area to provide everything from catering to decor for these special celebrations, and when added up, the vendor’s services are valued at almost $70,000. Multiple officiants are offering their services for the big day and dozens of makeup artists, hairstylists, and floral designers are also joining the cause to give these couples the weddings they deserve. Some of the vendors will include Vegas Weddings, Chapel of Flowers, Sundance Helicopters, Little Vegas Chapel, Graceland Wedding Chapel, Sugar Factory and Chocolate Lounge, Machine Guns Vegas, Emerald at Queensridge and more. You can find the entire list of vendors here.

The event is now taking submissions here, and must be received before September 26.
