Maahefun

Maahefun or Maahifun Celebration marks the beginning of the Ramadan, Where the Muslims in Maldives celebrate the taking of their last meal before beginning the month-long fasting. It is a traditional celebration where everybody gathered to have their last meal before fasting and thereafter the peoples of Maldives began to throw any living thing that moves into nearest beach, Fuvahmulah Thundi is one of the most visited places of Fuvahmulah on this Festival, People from Male and other islands of Maldives visit the closest uninhabited island on this occasion. MALDIVES – Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination – World Travel Awards 2015

Maldives with its fine white sandy beaches has been awarded as the Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination in the 2015 World Travel Awards which was held at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare. Maldives is renowned for its white beaches all throughout the country. No beach is any shade darker than the colour we call “white”. Most of the beaches of these uniquely formed islands are fine sand beaches though you might come across coral pieces washed on the shore. This should come as no surprise as the Maldive islands are built on coral beds and have delicate eco-systems and a fragile environment.
