Diamonds Thudufushi Beach and Water Villas has donated five computer systems to the school in the neighbouring local island of Mandhoo.
The island of Mandhoo, mostly known to Diamonds Resorts guests as the famous “Fisherman Island”, welcomes guests from Diamonds Thudufushi during excursions and allows them to have a peak into the Maldivian local lifestyle. The resort is grateful to have the chance to offer this cultural activity to their guests and it therefore felt natural to give back to this special place.
With that in mind, Diamonds Thudufushi created a fundraiser for Mandhoo school through various activities.
To achieve its fundraising goal, souvenir t-shirts were for sale. The resort also organised various beach volleyball tournaments in which both guests and employees happily participated to help raise funds, which allowed the resort to buy five computers to help contribute to the education of the island’s children.
On March 13, Thomas Weber, General Manager for Diamonds Resorts Maldives, accompanied by members of the Diamonds Thudufushi management team, visited Mandhoo to officially hand over the computers to the school.
Thomas and his team received a warm welcome from the children, teachers and parents, including a flower necklace and a fresh coconut on arrival. The team then visited the school and learned about the different educational tools and goals the school has.
Thomas also offered a motivational speech to the children to encourage them to have dreams and pursue their education to achieve them.
“Diamonds Thudufushi is proud to have contributed to the local education and strives to continue giving back to the community. The resort would like to extend a grateful thank you to all guests and employees who have contributed to this special project, without whom it would not have been possible. Best of luck to all the Mandhoo School students in the pursue of their dreams and education,” a statement issued by Diamonds Resorts Maldives read.
