Stand on the glowing beach of the Vaadhoo Island, hand in hand with your lover for an experience of a lifetime. The famous beach lights up at night because of rare glowing tidesthat rinse the shore at night.

Instead of staying in a resort, experience the live-aboard cruises with your partner. The ships take you to remote inhabited islands and deserted beaches, for an intimate holiday surrounded by the island’s unmatched beauty.

The Maldives voted top location for honeymoon couples

When it comes to the honeymoon, will you be shunning two weeks on the beach for somewhere off the beaten track? Travel brand Kuoni has revealed its latest report showing the Maldives scores as the top location for honeymoon couples, but also that adventure holidays are growing in popularity over stay-put beach breaks

Couples see the Maldives as the ultimate luxury island paradise, with the holiday destination scoring the top spot for honeymooners, Kuoni’s worldwide trends report shows.

With its unique collection of all-island resorts and over-water villas, the Maldives continues to set the pace in luxury travel and scores higher than any other destination on customer satisfaction.

The worldwide holiday company has seen holidays with an adventure, cultural or touring element as part of the itinerary grow at twice the pace of stay-put beach breaks over the past two years, and the report has also unveiled the top locations for honeymoons in 2016.

Same-sex honeymoons are also on the rise, according to Kuoni. Over 15,000 same-sex marriages have taken place since it was introduced in England and Wales in 2014, according to the Office for National Statistics. The increase has resulted in demand for luxury travel advice from companies able to guide couples on the legal and cultural positions in different destinations.

When it comes to creating big life moments, from seeing wildlife in its natural habitat to experiencing iconic sights such as the Great Wall of China, more than *60 per cent of British adults are prepared to invest more than the average holiday in making their wish list a reality.

Other key findings about honeymoons include:

Snorkelling with turtles in turquoise-blue waters remains one of the top wish list experiences for honeymoon couples this year.
Honeymooners are now spending an average of £5,902 in total on their trip, up from £5,743 last year, backing up a trend for more adventure, upgraded luxury and once-in-a-lifetime experiences.
The most popular month to book a Kuoni honeymoon is January.
The average honeymoon duration is 13 days.
11.6 per cent of Kuoni honeymoon bookers put their honeymoon on a John Lewis gift list in 2015.
Indonesia has seen the biggest rise in the top 10 and Bali is a favourite as it’s a perfect destination to visit weather-wise during the wedding-boom months.
Vietnam has jumped five places in the past year to the number 11 spot, showing the popularity of adventure touring over a classic beach stay.

The Maldives are regularly touted as the world’s top destination for honeymooners, and as Emma Krieger discovers, the pearls of the Indian Ocean, as they’re popularly known, indeed live up to the hype.

Kandholhu Island - A haven of tranquility and serenity in Kandholhudhoo in the northern Maldives

Situated to the South West of Sri Lanka, the Maldives are made up of a double chain of 26 atolls, or an impressive 1,192 islands, which form a geographically striking – and from a seaplane, a visually stunning – archipelago.
Can we really dance standing in the middle of Indian ocean in?

With its cobalt blue waters, fresh lagoons, sandy white beaches and clichéd swaying palm trees, the Maldives is an idyllic tropical haven for honeymooners, and one of the few places around the world where you can enjoy complete and utter privacy.

Arriving in the Maldivian capital of Malé the salt air and startling bright sunshine help to shake away the jetlag cobwebs; the airport transfer to Gasfinolhu Island via speedboat also does the trick.

I am making my way to the luxurious Finolhu Villas, a Club Med outpost which opened to guests in early 2015 in a deliberate move by the 65-year-old French resort chain to branch out into more high-end accommodation options.

Coming into the island’s dock several of Finolhu Villas’ staff are waiting to greet me with watermelon mocktails and ice water. I get my bearings for a moment before hopping aboard a golf buggy headed towards my Sunrise Villa.

The announcement was made at the 2015 International Islands Tourism Conference in east China’s Zhejiang Province.

Taiwan, Bali, and Thailand’s Phuket Island have also been favoured by Chinese tourists in the list, which was created after a poll by the conference’s organisation committee and after evaluation by an expert panel.

The poll began in June, drawing more than three million responses for more than 70 destinations. The poll was conducted via the committee’s website, and some other portals and microblog services.

Chinese islands filled five spots on the list, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Romantic Getaways and Honeymoons to Maldives tips by Asad

Honeymooners and couples looking for romance have long heard the call of the Maldives, a beautiful tropical island nation in the Indian Ocean southwest of Sri Lanka. Why? Because it has all the luxury a loved-up pair could dream of, from lavish resorts to empty stretches of white-sand beach, tropical blue waters and an unmatchable sunny disposition.

Couple jumping on Private Sand bank in Maldives. Sand bank is a place of love and romance.

The Maldives is an idyllic honeymoon-haven of sun-drenched islands – a whopping 1,190 islands in total, although only 200 are inhabited. The islands of The Maldives are so incredibly beautiful that you’ll immediately get the feeling you’ve stumbled upon secluded paradise.

Romantic Couple Silhoute Maldives,

Celebrities have sung the praises of The Maldives – Fergie (of The Black Eyed Peas) announced that she ‘finally knew what the word paradise means,’ after she and her husband spent their honeymoon there. Wills and Kate even chose The Maldives as one of their romantic getaways, staying at one of the incredible luxury resorts which have helped The Maldives secure a top place as one of the world’s ultimate romantic getaways.

Romantic Couple Silhoute Maldives,

What makes the Maldives even more special than a lot of other island destinations and in particular a romantic couples’ holiday paradise? Besides the incredible natural scenery, both above and below the water, there is a huge array of luxurious overwater villas and five-star resorts that put guests right amongst these stunning surrounds. There are even resorts that cater for couples only! While you will feel as though you are one of the lucky few who get to experience such seductive and remote luxury, the resorts are easily accessed (no stress for you on your Maldives romantic holiday!) and arrange transfers from the main island of Male – the closer islands are usually reached by launch, the outer islands may require a seaplane service.

If it is absolute high-end luxury you are looking for, The Maldives will not disappoint. From overwater bungalows to residences built in the middle of the lagoon, or villas hidden amongst the foliage, just metres back from your own private stretch of beach, there is a great range of idyllic escapes available to couples on honeymoon or enjoying a special holiday together. Robinson Crusoe never had it so good! Private and romantic, if your budget stretches, do stretch to some of The Maldives higher-end luxury accommodation options if possible, you won’t regret it and the resort’s style, location and service could very well be the difference between an amazing holiday and the most incredible holiday you’ve ever taken. Out of the inhabited islands, 105 are designated resort areas, so you have an amazing variety of gorgeous resorts to choose from, and no doubt will find something to suit your tastes and budget if you can’t justify going over the top and booking one of the very top-end luxury resorts there.

Imagine yourself and your loved one strolling down the above-sea boardwalk to your luxury Maldives bungalow that comes complete with a sunbathing deck, or even its own plunge pool (some even come with butler service!). While away the days as you both sink into each other and the beautiful views of the ocean that seem to go forever – not to mention the beach and island vistas all around you.

While The Maldives is remote, that doesn’t mean there isn’t gourmet food for you and your loved one to enjoy during your stay. Savour a meal and a velvety drop of wine at your resort’s restaurant with a view, or indulge in a candlelit beachside dinner. There is even an underwater restaurant at Conrad Hilton where guests get to enjoy contemporary European cuisine 5 metres below sea level! Many resorts are able to arrange romantic dinners on the beach or offshore sand banks. Some even offer sailing trips where you can be dropped off at a sandbank in the middle of the ocean and treated to a sensational gourmet dinner for just the two of you. Très romantic!

Feel like getting out and about? Plunge into the warm crystalline waters that The Maldives are so famous for and swim and snorkel while discovering an abundance of colourful fish darting below the surface – or head even further into the depths with a diving expedition! The Maldives is one of the world’s top diving destinations and perfect for the many couples who share a passion of diving holidays. The bright marine creatures and coral landscapes are sure to leave a lasting impression. Don’t forget to make the most of the tranquil waters around you by embarking upon a romantic sunset boat trip, allowing you and your partner to take in the breathtaking colours of paradise’s sky.

Couples will also love the spa experiences the Maldives offers, with some of the world’s best resort spas found here. Home to some of the most luxurious spas in the world, honeymooners in particular will love the indulgent, romantic spa options available to them in The Maldives – think outdoor treatments in the forest or on the beach with an ocean outlook, or even on a private island easily accessed from the resort. Benefit from the traditional healing methods of the Maldivian people and enjoy the rejuvenating effects of coconut oil in massages and body treatments.

Couple jumping on Private Sand bank in Maldives. Sand bank is a place of love and romance.

If you are eager to get a taste of local culture on your Maldivian honeymoon or romantic getaway, you can head to a village. You’ll fall in love with the sleepy island way of life. Join in on a game of cards with the locals or take in the action at a busy fishing port.

Romantic Beach Walk in Maldives.

When you’re ready to get back to nature you can complete an excursion to a deserted island where you will have endless stretches of sand to yourselves, a perfect way to while away an afternoon on your couples’ retreat.

Go on, take your honeymoon or romantic getaway in the Maldives for an experience to remember.

Celebrate Love In The Maldives Dreamy Honeymoon

The Maldives are tiny tropical dots of land in the vast Indian Ocean, with beaches and palm trees rising just feet above the waves and relying on rings of vibrant coral reefs for protection. Of more than a thousand islands barely one in ten is inhabited, and among these are some of the most secluded and spectacular resorts on the planet, exotic hideaways where your honeymoon suite is just as likely to be over the water as on
the beach.

Settled by migrant fishermen and long supported by the sea, the Maldives merge land and water in a harmony richly expressed at the Huvafen Fushi Maldives resort, where spa treatment rooms go underwater and bungalows have glass floors to reveal the teeming life on the reefs below—even the resort’s hot tub hovers above the gentle waves. Remoteness is no signal for depravation, however—the resort also has the Maldives’ best-stocked wine cellar and several gourmet dining options to explore. Diversions range from reef diving to seaplane tours.

Resort in: Kani (Maldives). A paradise island for divers in the Maldives, with a magnificent lagoon. Family all inclusive resort and exclusive last minute vacation deals with Club Med.

All-inclusive takes on higher meaning at the Constance
Moofushi resort, where the signature Cristal package invites frequent toasts with fine wines and French champagne. Each end of this private island is strung with overwater guest villas, and activities include deep-water fishing, cruises aboard a traditional dhoni boat, and visits to the local fishing village of Himandoo.

Ever imagined dining inside an aquarium? That’s the experience you’ll get at the Sea.Fire. Salt.Sky. restaurant complex at the Anantara Kihavah Villas resort. Take a cooking class together to learn how to make traditional Maldivian huni havaadhu curry, try your hand at windsurfing in the lagoon, or hide away in comfort at a resort where every room is either over the water, has its own private pool, or opens onto a spectacular infinity-edge pool reaching out toward the endless ocean. Treatment rooms at the Anantara spa are located at the end of a jetty and open to the sea on all sides for an unforgettable experience.

With just forty-eight villas scattered across a private island, the Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru offers plenty of romantic seclusion for newlyweds, who can also indulge in the ultimate private dining experience: a gourmet meal for two on a wave-kissed sandbar, delivered via speedboat. Or, cap days spent on the beach or beneath the waves with champagne and canapés in a dhoni, and stargazing at the Naiboli Bar.

The Shangri-La Villingili Resort & Spa, Maldives is home, somewhat remarkably, to a golf course—and the resort’s unique amenities don’t stop there. Located on a lushly forested atoll, the Shangri-La offers plenty of distractions you won’t find in other Maldives destinations, like nature hikes and bike tours, tennis and the Eco Centre where you can learn about local conservation efforts. In addition, there are some gorgeous overwater villas and CHI, a spa located in its own private village.

From the international airport in Malé it’s just fifteen minutes by luxury speedboat to the Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives, where sixty-four villas are arrayed on a large lagoon and guests are lavished with Taj’s legendary personalized service, including your own private butler. Couples can take their meals in the privacy of their villa or in a variety of mind-blowing romantic settings, including an exclusive ocean pavilion set amid the calm waters of the lagoon.

The Taj is just far enough away to feel isolated, yet the proximity to Malé offers the opportunity to explore the ancient capital of the Maldives with its vibrant fish and produce markets and the 400-year-old Hukuru Miskiiy mosque, built from local coral and famed for its lacquer work and carvings.
