Alexis Ohanian Celebrates First Wedding Anniversary With Serena Williams With Sweet Instagram

It’s been exactly one year since Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian tied the knot, and the Reddit founder is commemorating their first anniversary with a sweet tribute on Instagram.

On Friday, November 16, Ohanian shared a photo of the couple from their wedding, which shows him looking lovingly at a twirling Williams on the dance floor. “365 days later. And still dancing,” he wrote. “Only now Jr joins in. Happy anniversary, my queen. Here’s to many, many more,” he captioned the black and white shot.

The couple wed in 2017 in a star-studded event at a contemporary art museum in New Orleans. Williams wore a princess-style Alexander McQueen by designer Sarah Burton, with A-list guests included Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, and Kelly Rowland in attendance. “Alexis really wanted to do it here,” Serena explained to Vogue of their decision to host the event in the Southern city. “It’s his favorite city besides Brooklyn. It’s got a heavy European influence, it’s fun, and has amazing food. He just loves the vibe.“

Williams and Ohanian welcomed their first child together, Olympia, earlier this year, and the cherubic child has become an adorable fixture on both of their Instagram feeds.

Their anniversary isn’t the only day of the year the Williams and Ohanian dedicate to celebrating their love. “Once a year @alexisohanian and I have what we call Salexis day,” the 36-year-old mother of one wrote on Instagram back in August. “It can fall on any day out of the year. This year was my year to plan it and I decided to surprise Alexis [by] bringing all his good childhood and young adult friends to the @PUBLIChotels.” They also spent this year’s “holiday” sampling a replica of their wedding cake, because they forgot to eat it at their actual wedding. Classic.

Congratulations on a successful first year of marriage to the happy couple, who make it clear on a regular basis just how much they truly deserve their #couplesgoals status.

Manolo Blahnik Is Re-Releasing Carrie Bradshaw's Iconic Blue Wedding Shoes

There was a lot to take in with Carrie Bradshaw’s wedding look in the Se**x and the City movie: Her bespoke Vivienne Westwood gown, her vampy makeup, and whatever that blue “bird” thing was that she wore in her hair… But of all of the pieces of her statement-making bridal look, the one piece that has stood the test of time is actually one she wore at the end of the film, paired with her simple white suit at her and Mr. Big’s courthouse wedding: Her blue Manolo Blahnik stilettos.

In honor of the movie’s 10th anniversary—which also marks the 10th anniversary of the shoe’s debut—Manolo Blahnik is re-releasing their “Hangsi” high heel as part of a special edition collection.

The “Decade of Love” limited launch includes seven styles, all inspired by Carrie’s iconic wedding shoe. There’s a blue high heel and flat embroidered with the phrase, “A Decade of Love” in script; A cream high heel and flat emblazoned with a map of New York City; Blue, pink and white checkered high heels; And black and white heels and flats with the word “love” calligraphed multiple times across the silk. Prices range from $985 to $1065.

“The Hangisi has since transformed from fashion fantasy to the quintessential, instantly recognisable silhouette it is today,” the brand writes on its website. “The capsule collection, A Decade of Love is inspired by New York City in dedication to the ‘Manolo’ woman and her long-standing love for this special shoe.”

Since Carrie Bradshaw selected the Hangsi as her “something blue” a decade a go, a number of brides have followed suit for their own big days. Olivia Palermo famously paired the shoe with a white sweater and princess skirt for her 2015 wedding, proving that the shoe works just as well for a bridal look now as it did back when Carrie was stood up at the altar (a move we still haven’t forgiven Mr. Big for, by the way).

The movie gained the shoe a notorious place in fashion and pop culture history, which designer Manolo Blahnik says happened by happy accident. “It’s torture—it’s a horror story. It just goes on and on,” he joked to Footwear News of the shoe’s mass popularity. “It’s one of those things that I cannot explain, but I do thank God for it. I never do things thinking they are going to be iconic. It was just a coincidence.”

The collection is available for sale now in stores and at Manolo Blahnik‘s website.

Watch the First Trailer for A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding

no thumb

It’s the year of the royal wedding, and Netflix is officially on board.

On Thursday, the streaming service released the trailer for A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding, and based on the 2-minute-and-thirty-second spot, the film might surpass Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s big day as the best royal love story of the year. (Just kidding, nothing could ever beat out those two.)

The film comes as a sequel to 2017’s so-bad-it’s-good Christmas hit, A Christmas Prince, which told the story of journalist Amber falling in love with the Prince of a made up land called “Aldovia.” The new film picks up 349 days after the last one left off, with Amber moving into the palace, planning her wedding and preparing to become the queen of a small country. “Somehow, though, I’m still me,” Amber writes to her loyal royal blog followers.

When watching the trailer, it’s hard not to draw comparisons between Amber and *another* American commoner who married into royalty this year. For one, Amber is asked to stop blogging, which feels reminiscent of Markle having to de-activate her social media when her relationship with Prince Harry got serious. For another, she seems to struggle with some of the royal traditions she’s been asked to follow, similar to how Markle chose to break a number of traditions with her own royal wedding and reportedly had trouble adjusting to all the new rules.

It looks like the movie will feature no shortage of drama, with Amber dealing with an overbearing mother-in-law (a.k.a. the Queen of Aldovia) and wedding planning with “His Royal Hotness”—especially because she wants the wedding to reflect her previous life and future husband but also respect the title she’s about to obtain. (Seriously though, Markle MUST have tips on this, considering her and Harry added several personal touches to their nuptials—like the music—while keeping things largely traditional.)

The movie will be available to stream starting on November 30.

Michelle Obama Shares the Story of How Barack Obama Proposed

no thumb

Prepare yourselves: In her new memoir, Becoming, Michelle Obama shares the story of how Barack proposed, and it is e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g.

Apparently, the couple of them were at dinner when Michelle brought up wanting to get married. She describes herself in the book as a “traditionalist,” but noted that Barack did not seem to have the same idea about taking the next step in their relationship.

“He reached for my hand and said that as much as he loved me with his whole being, he still didn’t really see the point,” she wrote, per Buzzfeed.

She disagreed with his sentiment and made her point well-known. “If we’re committed, why wouldn’t we formalise that commitment? What part of your dignity would be sacrificed by that?” she wrote, adding that the two got into a full-fledged debate on the subject.

“We weren’t fighting, but we were quarreling, and doing it attorney-style. We punched and counterpunched, dissected and cross-examined, though it was clearly I who was more inflamed. It was I who was doing most of the talking,” she explained, according to Buzzfeed.

Well, it turns out that Barack’s side of the debate was a VERY clever diversion, because a few minutes later a member of the restaurant’s staff appeared with a surprise for Michelle.

“Eventually our waiter came around holding a dessert plate, covered by a silver lid. He slid it in front of me and lifted the cover. I was almost too miffed to even look down, but when I did, I saw a dark velvet box where the chocolate cake was supposed to be. Inside it was a diamond ring,” she penned.

Needless to say, the swoon-factor here is off the charts.

Despite their overwhelmingly romantic proposal, marriage hasn’t been all happiness and surprise diamonds all the time for the former President and First Lady—who celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary earlier this year. She recently opened up about attending couple’s therapy. “I know too many young couples who struggle, and think somehow there’s something wrong with them,” Michelle said on Good Morning America last week. “I want them to know that Michelle and Barack Obama—who have a phenomenal marriage and who love each other—we work on our marriage and we get help with our marriage when we need it.”

Dave Chappelle Perfectly Photobombed an Engagement Shoot

no thumb

No matter how you decide to set them up, engagement photos are special shots that you’ll have forever—yes, even long after they make the rounds on Instagram and Facebook. And one couple recently got an even more special engagement shoot than they bargained for when they were photobombed by Dave Chapelle.

According to Yahoo Finance, photographer Jaycee Brammer was shooting photos of Thomas Saunders and Emily Eldridge at a brewery in Yellow Springs, Ohio, on November 10, when her husband turned to her and said, “Dave Chappelle just walked in.”

It was, in fact, the legendary comedian, leaving the couple immediately “starstruck” in the midst of their shoot. They reportedly chatted with Chappelle for a bit, but when they asked him to pose for a photo he politely declined.

“I really wasn’t surprised, because I had heard he wasn’t much for photos,” Brammer told Yahoo. “We all totally understood, and Dave chatted with Tommy for a few minutes.”

Thankfully, they were able to capture a few shots with him in the frame, anyway. The photographer posted the resulting images to Facebook with an explanation of exactly what went down. “So, I was shooting this engagement session at a brewery tonight and this dude photobombed us… idk, you may have heard of him. Dave something?? LOL NO FOR REAL GUYS! THE Dave Chappelle photobombed our shoot, she wrote.”I’m going to have to quit photography now because how will I ever beat this? I just can’t. HUGE shoutout to the man himself. He was so nice and truly made our day. I think it’s safe to say Emily + Tommy have the coolest engagement photos EVER.”

She continued, “Is anyone else DYING over this? Because I am 😆.”

Chappelle is hardly the first celebrity to photobomb a happy couple. Comedian Amy Schumer, for one, has made quite the habit of it: She snuck into a couple’s Central Park photoshoot just last month, and in 2017, she even photobombed a wedding photoshoot in London.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank Spent the Night Before Their Honeymoon Eating Pizza With Family

With 800 guests (including a number of celebrities) and the entire world watching, Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s royal wedding wasn’t exactly what you would call a “regular” wedding day. But once the festivities were over, they celebrated just like any other bride and groom would: by eating pizza with their families.

In a new interview with The Daily Mail, Eugenie’s mom, Duchess Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson, opened up about the newlyweds’ first few days of marriage. “The Sunday after the wedding, I said to Eugenie and Jack: ‘Do you want to stay somewhere special?’ No. They wanted to stay at Royal Lodge,” she said. “So the night before their honeymoon, the whole family were eating pizza together in the kitchen.” (The couple hasn’t yet revealed where they vacationed for their honeymoon.)

Late-night pizza wasn’t the only drool-worthy food that was served up during the wedding weekend. For the party on Saturday night, guests feasted on dishes from around the world that had special meaning to the couple. According to The Daily Mail, there was Argentinean beef in memory of Eugenie’s grandmother, Susan Barrantes; rice dishes from Nicaragua, where Brooksbank proposed earlier this year; hamburgers from the U.S., where Eugenie’s employer is based; Italian Pizza; Spanish Paella; and crepes from Switzerland to represent Verbier, where the couple first met and now own a chalet together.

In the same interview, the Duchess also revealed her favorite moment from her daughter’s wedding day. ‘My proudest moment,” she said, “as watching Eugenie standing tall, very proud to show her scoliosis scar in her low-backed dress. I’d gone to all the fittings and sat there beaming with delight, and because there was no veil it was a very strong statement.” Ahead of the big day, they checked in with St. George’s chapel to ensure there was no rule that required brides wear a veil. “There wasn’t and Eugenie just wanted to be herself,” she said. For the occassion, Eugenie donned a custom gown by British designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos.

A dress you feel comfortable in and a post-game pizza party with your nearest and dearest? And don’t forget the handwritten thank you notes delivered just days after their honeymoon. Princess Eugenie upped the ante for “bridal goals” for sure.

Michelle Obama Opens Up About Going to Marriage Counseling With Barack Obama

no thumb

From their many adorable Instagram tributes to each other to rocking out together at Jay-Z concerts, Barack and Michelle Obama’s marriage seems to be the stuff of fairy tales. But even America’s favorite #couplesgoals couple has had their fair share of relationship struggles.

In a new interview for the December issue of Elle, the former First Lady admitted to Oprah that their marriage of 26 years has not always been as easy as they make it look. “When you get married and have kids, your whole plan, once again, gets upended. Especially if you get married to somebody who has a career that swallows up everything, which is what politics is,” Obama said, noting that being married to Barack taught her how to “swerve.” “But his swerving sort of—you know, I’m flailing in the wind,” she added.

She went on to explain that both she and her husband had a lot on their plates—he was traveling between Washington and Springfield while she was trying to hold things down at home—so they decided to go to counseling to work on their relationship.

“Well, you go because you think the counselor is going to help you make your case against the other person. ‘Would you tell him about himself?!’ And lo and behold, counseling wasn’t that at all,” she says. “It was about me exploring my sense of happiness. What clicked in me was that I need support and I need some from him. But I needed to figure out how to build my life in a way that works for me.”

For Obama, counseling also helped her learn to communicate and understand love in a different way, she explained: “I feel vulnerable all the time. And I had to learn how to express that to my husband, to tap into those parts of me that missed him—and the sadness that came from that—so that he could understand.” She continued, “He didn’t understand distance in the same way. You know, he grew up without his mother in his life for most of his years, and he knew his mother loved him dearly, right? I always thought love was up close. Love is the dinner table, love is consistency, it is presence. So I had to share my vulnerability and also learn to love differently. It was an important part of my journey of becoming. Understanding how to become us.”

In an interview with Good Morning America on November 9, Obama also elaborated on why she’s chosen to speak publicly about her and her husband’s decision to go to counseling. “I know too many young couples who struggle, and think somehow there’s something wrong with them,” Obama told host Robin Roberts. “I want them to know that Michelle and Barack Obama—who have a phenomenal marriage and who love each other—we work on our marriage and we get help with our marriage when we need it.”

She noted that while it may often feel like marriage is “supposed to be easy,” counseling can be a good opportunity to learn.

“What I learned about myself was that my happiness was up to me and I started working out more, I started asking for help, not just from him but from other people,” she said. “I stopped feeling guilty.”

Obama, who is currently promoting her upcoming memoir, Becoming, also shared to GMA how she had a miscarriage 20 years ago, and how she hopes telling story will help destigmatize fertility issues.

“I felt lost and alone, and I felt like I failed,” she said. “Because I didn’t know how common miscarriages were, because we don’t talk about them. We sit in our own pain, thinking that somehow we’re broken.”

Becoming hits shelves on Tuesday and will no doubt be filled with even more marriage advice from the house of Obama.

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas's Wedding: All the Details We Have So Far

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas sure do know how to throw a party. From the couple’s engagement party in India to Chopra’s bridal shower at Tiffany’s to her bachelorette weekend in Amsterdam, the future Mr. and Mrs. have already had a wedding season to remember, and it’s not slowing down any time soon. The pair has reportedly already obtained a marriage license, so their big day—which we have high hopes for—could be happening any day now.

Read on for everything we know so far about Chopra and Jonas’s wedding (including what her dress might look like!). By the end, you’ll surely be just as excited as we are.

According to Us Weekly, sources have revealed that the big event will take place in India in December. The couple celebrated their engagement in Mumbai in August, where Jonas spent time with Chopra’s family. And after multiple trips to India together, the actress has referred to the country as her fiancé’s “other home.”

The couple reportedly filed for a marriage license at a Beverly Hills courthouse the first week of November, which means they could make things official at any point now. Sources say that they will bring the license with them to India in December for the ceremony, then file in the U.S. to legalize their union in both countries.

In addition to reportedly taking place in India, the ceremony will likely feature a blend of Chopra’s Indian culture and Jonas’s American one. “The wedding is coming soon and they really want to blend wedding traditions from both of their cultures that are important to them,” a source recently told Us Weekly. “Priyanka is having a really good time planning the wedding because it’s a mix of Indian and American styles and customs, which she knows so much about.” Jonas, for his part, has been “super supportive” of the fact that his bride-to-be wants and Indian wedding.

Chopra’s mom, Madhu Chopra, has also been outspoken about her hopes for a traditional ceremony. “I haven’t forced any of my thoughts on her, but I definitely want a traditional Indian wedding,” she said. “That’s my only wish. I started the roka with a puja, which is important for me. I’m a modern mother, but at heart, I’m quite conservative.”

Chopra has been giving fans a preview of her wedding day style of late (she wore an actual wedding dress to her bridal shower in October), but she has two requirements for whichever dress she decides on for the big day. “I always believed that anything and everything that I wear, I have to be comfortable and cute,” Chopra told Entertainment Tonight. “So it’s going to be cute and comfortable.”

To celebrate her last days of single-hood, Chopra jetted off to Amsterdam with some of her nearest and dearest girlfriends. Her bachelorette weekend involved a big night out with Chopra dressed in a feathered white frock and her friends in black and red. “Red, white and Bride!!!” she captioned a group shot from the evening, which resulted in a very hungover morning with future sister-in-law Sophie Turner, who’s engaged to Joe Jonas.

Chopra’s stunningly over-the-top bridal shower took place at Tiffany’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue—the same place where Jonas got her stunning ring. A-list guests included Kelly Ripa, Lupita Nyong’o, and Chopra donned a floor-length white gown from Marchesa. “It was amazing; my friends threw a really special party for me. And it’s amazing that it was at Tiffany, because I’m a fan of the brand, and it was really special in my relationship,” she said of the night. “But it wasn’t a normal shower. I haven’t even opened gifts yet, it was just dancing and cocktails and fun.”

A wedding may not be the only thing Jonas and Chopra are celebrating in the near future: The soon-to-be Mrs. Jonas recently joked that she needs to “catch up” to her pregnant friend, Meghan Markle. “I just have a few of my friends who are having babies right now and I’m like, ‘God, I need to catch up!’” she said. According to Us Weekly, Chopra and Jonas “keep talking about starting a family together,” but they’ve got one important thing to check off of their to-do list before it happens. “They are going to wait till after the wedding to start trying,” the insider added. “But it’s definitely on the agenda.”

Michelle Obama Opens Up About Previous Miscarriage

Michelle Obama is opening up about her previous struggles getting pregnant and for good reason: She wants others to know they are not alone.

In an interview with Good Morning America Friday morning, to promote her new memoir, Becoming, the former First Lady discussed having a miscarriage 20 years ago. “I felt lost and alone, and I felt like I failed,” she told host Robin Roberts of the experience. “Because I didn’t know how common miscarriages were, because we don’t talk about them. We sit in our own pain, thinking that somehow we’re broken.”

She continued, “That’s one of the reasons I feel like it’s important to talk to young mothers about the fact that miscarriages happen.”

Obama went on to reveal that after miscarrying, she and President Barack Obama made the decision to undergo in-vitro fertilization. “The biological clock is real, because egg production is limited, and I realized that as I was 34 and 35,” she said. “We had to do IVF.” The Obamas now have two daughters, 20-year-old Malia and 18-year-old Sasha, and speaking out about her “journey to motherhood” is something Michelle deems incredibly important.

Other women in the public eye—including Chrissy Teigen, Beyoncé, and Kim Kardashian—have all previously also used their platforms to discuss their own challenges with fertility: Teigen has been outspoken about the fact that her children were conceived via IVF; Beyoncé has repeatedly opened up about her own miscarriage; and Kardashian let fans in on her decision to carry her third child via surrogate.

Prince Charles Was Very Involved in Planning Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Wedding

Wedding in the Maldives islands, Its celebration of happiness in the middle of ocean with World class Accomodation and Food on your Holiday package, Photo by Asad

There were many moments from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s royal wedding that will go down in history (and forever be embedded in our brains, hearts and Pinterest boards): the moment Meghan stepped out of her car in her dress; her mom, Doria Ragland, crying as she came down the aisle; and their first kiss on the steps, to name a few. But there’s one sound in particular that seemed to define the day: the gospel rendition of “Stand By Me.”

The song was selected by Meghan and Harry to be played during the ceremony, but they had help from an unlikely source to figure out how to make it appropriate for the occasion. “We worked quite a lot with the Prince of Wales, who has incredible taste in specifically classical music, so it was really fun to spend some time going through selections with him,” Meghan says of her father-in-law, Prince Charles, in a personal recording for the new exhibition “A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” per People.

In fact, it was actually Prince Charles’s team who put Meghan and Harry in touch with the Kingdom Choir, the group who serenaded the couple on their big day. “There was a song that was very meaningful to us, ‘Stand By Me,’ but we wanted a gospel rendition of it for it to really have a lot of soul,” Markle says in the recording.

But one musical decision that Prince Harry made entirely for himself, without the help of his father? The song that Meghan came down the aisle to. “[It] was Harry’s choice entirely and I think a really beautiful piece,” said Meghan of George Frideric Handel’s “Eternal Source of Light Divine. “I can retrace that entire walk down the aisle listening to it. It really is so special to us, and I think it’s one of those things we’ll treasure forever.”

Music and wedding planning aren’t the only thing Meghan Markle and her new father-in-law—who partially walked her down the aisle—have bonded over. “They have bonded over art, history, and culture,” a source recently revealed. “Meghan is particularly keen to learn about earlier royals and the artists who have painted them. The prince believes she is ‘incredibly smart’ and, having been trained by the Hollywood machine, is uniquely equipped to cope with the endlessly scrutinized life of a royal.”

Prince Harry Explains the Habit of His That Confuses Meghan Markle

no thumb

Part of being married means learning to love (or at least, learning to live with) your partner’s odd habits—even if you’re Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

In the new BBC Documentary, Prince, Son and Heir: Charles at 70, Prince Harry revealed that Meghan is learning to deal with his “habit” of turning off the lights, which he reportedly picked up from his father, Prince Charles.

“He’s a stickler for turning off the lights,” Harry says in the documentary, per The Mirror. “And that’s now something I’m obsessed with as well, which is insane because actually my wife goes, ‘Well why turn off the lights? You know it’s dark.’”

But for Harry, this small habit is about doing his part for the planet. “I go, ‘We only need one light, we don’t need, like, six,’ and all of a sudden it becomes a habit and those small habit changes he’s making, every single person can do. And I think that’s one of the key lessons certainly that I felt that [Charles] taught us.”

And Meghan isn’t the only one learning to live with her husband’s affinity for hanging out in the dark: Apparently, the exact same thing is going on in Prince William and Kate Middleton’s corner of the palace. “I know I’ve got serious OCD on light switches now, which is terrible,” William responded to his brother, per The Mirror.

Prince Charles has historically been a champion for the environment and has clearly instilled those values in both of his sons. In the interview, Harry also admitted that when he was younger, he used to get teased at school for walking around and picking up trash. “It’s like I’ve literally done this because I’ve been programmed to do it, because my father did it,” he said. “Actually, we should all be doing it.”

Of course, considering Prince Harry is the type of husband who’s willing to dish out impromptu public back rubs and toast with water instead of wine in solidarity with his pregnant wife, we’d say that switching off a light or two—especially for the sake of the environment—sounds like a pretty OK habit for the Duchess of Sussex to have to deal with.

A Viral Engagement Ring Shaming Post Is Stirring Up Controversy on Reddit

What would you do if you found the engagement ring your significant other was planning to propose with and absolutely hated it? Well, according to the Internet, the one thing you should absolutely *not* do is share a photo of it to Facebook complaining about it.

One woman did just that earlier this week and another online community was not here for it. “Ewwwww,” the woman wrote in a “ring shaming” Facebook group ( yes, those exist) alongside a photo of the ring. “Self shame Friday here I come. Found this in the BF’s nightstand. Not a fan. Please roast and then tell me how to tactfully say no you need to go get something different.”

According to Today, one user of the group apparently then shared a screenshot of the original post to Reddit, where commenters went in on the anonymous woman who initially posted about it. “This is the saddest thing I’ve seen on this sub. It’s one thing when it’s a total stranger, but when someone that’s supposed to love you unconditionally acts like a grifter it’s just plain sad,” one user commented. “I hope he sees this, and then RUNS. To post this degrading sh*t to social media to first insult it, and then ask for ways to get something better from someone she supposedly loves just defies what this ring should really be about and proves she doesn’t even deserve a ring out of a dollar vending machine. This poor, poor man.”

… And those are two of the nicer pieces of feedback.

Others on Reddit took issue with the fact that she was in a “ring shaming” group to begin with. “Oh god. It was bad enough when I thought it was just one person asking their friends and family. But a ring shaming group? Disgusting…” wrote one user. “Wait….So that means she had to have belonged to this ‘ring shaming’ group before she had any idea her boyfriend had a ring, and was just waiting to post about her ring?” wondered another. But considering these types of groups exist in the first place—the group “That’s It, I’m Ring Shaming” has over 19,000 users—this woman clearly isn’t the only one who’s taken to social media to air her grievances. Of course, the anonymous post-er is entitled to her opinions about her engagement ring, but as one Reddit user so aptly put it, “Marriage isn’t about the ring.”

And if you do find yourself in a situation where you don’t like your engagement ring, here’s exactly what you can do about it—please note, “complaining about it to strangers on the Internet” is not one of the suggestions.

Meghan Markle's Family Drama and Love of Art Reportedly Helped Her Bond With Prince Charles

What does it take to bond with a set of royal in-laws? In Meghan Markle‘s case, it was a shared love of art and history and a whole lot of family drama.

Meghan’s tumultuous relationship with her father and half siblings has repeatedly made headlines before and since May 19 wedding to Prince Harry (case in point: her father was caught staging and selling paparazzi photos of himself, and her sister wrote a book called The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister, among many, many other things), but there’s at least one silver lining to all of it: The situation with her own family has helped the Duchess of Sussex become closer with her in-laws.

“Anyone who thinks the soap-opera antics of Meghan’s father, half-sister and half-brother have affected Charles’s feelings for his new daughter-in-law couldn’t be more wrong,” wrote Angela Levin, a reporter for The Daily Mail who spent a year following Prince Charles. “On the contrary, I was told by an immaculate source close to the Prince. ‘There have been so many traumas and crises within the personal life of the Royal Family, from the Duke of Windsor onwards. And many Royal divorces. That’s why the Duchess of Sussex’s troubled family background has endeared her to Charles even more.”

Meghan and Charles’ close relationship became evident on the day of the royal wedding, when he was the one chosen to walk her down part of the aisle and give her away to Prince Harry. Furthermore, Charles reportedly gifted Markle with a diamond tennis bracelet in honor of her nuptials, which Meghan has been seen sporting several times, including during her royal tour in Australia and Fiji.

But it isn’t just her family drama that has helped to bond the future king with his new daughter-in-law. “They have bonded over art, history and culture. Meghan is particularly keen to learn about earlier Royals and the artists who have painted them. The Prince believes she is ‘incredibly smart’ and, having been trained by the Hollywood machine, is uniquely equipped to cope with the endlessly scrutinized life of a Royal,” Levin reports.

In addition to Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles also seems to have taken kindly to Meghan — in part because both women joined the royal family from “the outside.” “Camilla goes out of her way to find time to spend with Meghan, to get to know her and make her feel welcome. She’s the ideal mother-in-law,” writes Levin.

With Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first child on the way, it’s safe to say there are some seriously doting grandparents in his or her future.

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin Got Matching Tattoos

no thumb

It’s a tale as old as celebrity relationships themselves: First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes matching tattoos. And it seems Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin have officially hit the third chapter in their story, reportedly inking themselves in each other’s honor.

Celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang (Keith McCurdy), revealed that he recently tattooed the newlyweds to celebrate their courthouse nuptials. “They each got a tattoo,” he told Page Six TV, per Us Weekly. “Justin’s tattoo is on his face, and I haven’t seen any photos of it — so he’s doing a good job of laying low.”

Bang Bang didn’t provide many details, but he noted that Bieber’s ink is next to his eyebrow and features “little words.” Based on a photo taken of the singer in July that shows a design above his eye, there is some speculation that it could say “Grace,” Us Weekly notes.

“It’s really thin and delicate,” Bang Bang said. “And [it’s] also not a traditional couples’ tattoo.”

Bieber and Baldwin tied the knot in a courthouse ceremony in September, and the couple has spent some time laying low since making things official. “[Bieber] is enjoying time with the woman he loves, and doesn’t want anything to get in the way of that,” a source recently said of the A-listers’ new low-key lifestyle. (The two are also still reportedly planning a larger wedding celebration sometime in 2019.)

This isn’t the first time that Bieber has gotten inked in honor of the woman he loves. He got a tattoo of Selena Gomez’s face on his left arm when the pair were together, and though he has tried to cover it since it’s still largely visible. “Uh, this is my ex-girlfriend,” he told GQ in 2016 of the ink, which shows Gomez flanked in angel wings. “So I kinda try to cover her face up with some shading, but people still know.”

The Bachelorette's Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth Have Broken Up After Three Years Together

no thumb

It’s a sad day in Bachelor nation: After three years together, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth have called it quits.

People broke the news on Friday afternoon, sharing a joint statement from the couple: “After three incredible years, we have decided to go our separate ways. This difficult decision comes after thoughtful, respectful consideration. Even though we are parting as a couple, we’re very much committed to remaining friends. We have both evolved as people, which is taking us in different directions, but with the hope that we will continue to support each other in new ways,” the pair said. “Due to the nature of how we met, our relationship has always been very public, and we have enjoyed sharing it with all of you, but we ask that you respect our decision and our privacy at this time.”

Bristowe and Booth met on the set of The Bachelorettes 11th season, and Booth popped the question during the show’s final episode. They have since been living in Nashville, where they were pursuing their careers.

The pair sparked rumors of a split earlier this year when Bristowe was spotted without her engagement ring, but at the time she reassured fans that there was no trouble in paradise. Speaking on her podcast, “Off the Vine” in August, she noted that she and Booth were “both so busy, and unfortunately that means we’re spending all of this time apart.” Even so, she said they were still “110 percent committed to each other.”

She continued, “You are both always away, you’re exhausted at the end of the day, sometimes the relationship isn’t being put first, but does that mean you call it quits? No,” she said, per People. “You love the sh*t out of each other and you work through it—and yourselves to be better. And you know that times aren’t always going to be smooth sailing.”

Julia Roberts Calls Husband Danny Moder Her 'Favorite Human'

no thumb

After 16 successful years of marriage, it’s safe to assume that Julia Roberts has some solid tips about how to make a relationship work. And thankfully, she’s finally sharing them with the rest of us.

The actress appeared on the most recent episode of the GOOP podcast (out November 2), opening up to pal (and newlywed) Gwyneth Paltrow about the reality of being married to husband Danny Moder for well over a decade. “It just gets deeper, it just gets more complex,” she said. “You’re young and you fall in love and go, ‘Yes, we’re going to get married, and we’re going to build a house and will have kids,’ and all these things that we all kind of dream of, but you don’t know if you’re going to like the same couch, and you don’t know if he is going to want to get patterned towels. Then, of course, the bigger ones are, ‘Will you parent in a way that has balance to it, that holds hands in philosophy?’ You just don’t know these things until you are right there doing it, and we are so fortunate that there is some kind of some explicable harmony to the way we do things.”

Roberts married Moder in 2002 and considers their relationship to be a major turning point in her life. “I think that first kind of real… ‘seismic shift’ was meeting Danny. Getting married to Danny,” she said on the podcast. “That was the first time my life will never be the same in the most incredible, indescribable way.” The couple share three children together.

And even after 16 years together, Roberts seems to be just as obsessed with Moder as she was back when the “seismic shift” occurred. “He truly, to this day, to this minute is just my favorite human,” she said. “I’m more interested in what he has to say or his point of view just than anybody. Really, we’re so lucky in that way. We just really, really like each other and we just enjoy each other’s company.”

Priyanka Chopra Speaks Out on Decision to Wear Controversial Designer Marchesa to Bridal Shower

no thumb

Priyanka Chopra has spoken out in defense of her decision to wear a Marchesa dress to her bridal shower.

The actress received criticism after donning a white feather dress from the brand, whose designer, Georgina Chapman, was married to disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein. Chopra spoke to Women’s Wear Daily about the importance of “women supporting women” and vehemently stood by her choice.

“Georgina’s a friend of mine, and she has been,” Chopra told the publication. “And it’s not her fault. And I don’t think it’s right to take it out on a self-made woman what somebody in her life did….That’s the wrong attitude.”

She continued, “I’ve known her for years, and that was a beautiful gown, and deserved to be worn by a bride-to-be. And it made me feel like a princess. It was the right choice.”

Marchesa is well-known for its wedding-wear, and the brand’s formalwear has been a red carpet fixture amongst A-listers since its inception in 2004.

Chapman announced she was leaving Weinstein in October 2017 after he was accused of sexual assault and misconduct by multiple women. Chapman told People at the time, “My heart breaks for all the women who have suffered.”

Chopra, who has worn Chapman’s designs in the past, isn’t the only celebrity to speak out on her behalf in the wake of the scandal. Scarlett Johansson opted for a red Marchesa gown at the 2018 Met Gala, and echoed the Quantico star’s sentiments when discussing the reasoning behind her decision. “I wore Marchesa because their clothes make women feel confident and beautiful and it is my pleasure to support a brand created by two incredibly talented and important female designers,” she said, per People.

In addition to a dress that made her feel like a princess, Chopra’s bridal shower certainly sounds like a night to remember. “It was amazing; my friends threw a really special party for me. And it’s amazing that it was at Tiffany, because I’m a fan of the brand, and it was really special in my relationship,” she told WWD, who notes that Jonas proposed to his future bride at the brand’s Fifth Avenue flagship store. “But it wasn’t a normal shower. I haven’t even opened gifts yet, it was just dancing and cocktails and fun.”
