Meghan Markle Just Wore a Wedding Dress to a Royal Event in Tonga

GettyImages-1053245482.jpg

If you’ve been feeling a little lost without a royal wedding to look forward to, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are here to cheer you up and put you back in the wedding spirit—if only for a day or two. On Thursday, shortly after their arrival in Tonga for the next stop on their first joint royal tour, the newlyweds stepped out looking like they’d walked straight off the aisle of St. George’s Chapel.

Meghan and Harry were dressed to the nines for a private visit with King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau’u of the Kingdom of Tonga at the Consular House in Nuku’alofa, according to the BBC. The Duchess of Sussex wore a floor-length, figure-hugging white gown by Theia—a wedding dress label! The frock featured ornate jewels on the shoulders, just above the dress’s cap sleeves. She accessorized with a small black clutch purse and black pointy-toed pumps, plus, as Marie Claire points out, the oversized aquamarine ring that once belonged to Princess Diana and which Meghan also wore on her wedding day, further adding to the ensemble’s wedding-y vibes.

Harry, meanwhile, looked every bit the royal groom in a black tuxedo. He paired the suit with a white button-down shirt and a black bowtie, and sported a small row of military medals on the left side of his jacket.

The designer behind Meghan’s gorgeous gown spoke to People about how excited he was to dress the duchess—and about the adjustments the Theia team made for the mom-to-be. “When her stylist reached out to inquire if I could make a dress for her Australian press tour, I stopped everything we were doing (my bridal show was just a week away) and immediately went to work on Her Royal Highness’ gown,” Don O’Neill, the brand’s creative director, said in a statement.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Couldn't Keep Their Hands Off Each Other on Bondi Beach

no thumb

On Friday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry met with members of OneWave, a surfing group that doubles as a supportive space to discuss mental health and well-being. The lighthearted but meaningful gathering took place on Sydney, Australia’s Bondi Beach, and it included yoga sessions, a big group hug, and some time spent chatting with the group in an “anti-bad vibes circle.” Clearly, there were nothing but good vibes between Meghan and Harry, too, since the royals seemed to find countless little ways to stay connected to each other during their time on the scenic beach.

While standing in the sand and speaking to members of OneWave and other Australian well-wishers, Meghan and Harry alternated between holding hands with their fingers intertwined and standing with their hands resting on each other’s lower backs. Of course, they’ve exchanged sweet gestures like these many times before, but on Friday, they stepped up their PDA game even further: At one point, while sitting in the anti-bad vibes circle, Meghan held onto the hand that Harry had placed on her leg, and at another, she rested her own hand on her husband’s knee. Shocking, I know.

It was during this time on the beach that Meghan reportedly spoke for the first time about how pregnancy has been treating her so far. “Meghan told me that pregnancy was like having jet lag,” Charlotte Connell, a member of OneWave, told reporters. “She said she was up at 4:30 a.m. this morning doing yoga in her room, as she couldn’t sleep.” Connell, who’s also expecting a baby herself, said that Meghan also told her that yoga is “so good for healing her mind.” It’s only a matter of time until the Duchess of Sussex combines her two great loves—yoga and PDA with Prince Harry—and enrolls in a couples yoga class.

Amy Schumer and Husband Chris Fischer Photobombed Another Couple's Engagement Photos

GettyImages-949160952.jpg

When you embark on a relationship with someone, it’s only natural to invite them to try out your favorite hobbies, and vice versa. That’s exactly what Amy Schumer did this week, when she brought along husband Chris Fischer while engaging in her tried-and-true pastime of photobombing another couple’s engagement photoshoot.

Bride-to-be Jillian Georgio shared a photo of the hilarious encounter on Instagram on Tuesday. In the pic, she and her fiancé pose in their cute, color-coordinated outfits in New York City’s Central Park, while Fischer and Schumer strike a similar pose right next to them, wearing slightly less camera-ready ensembles. “Sneak peak [sic] of the engagement shoot, special shout-out to @amyschumer and her husband Chris for making today so much fun!!” Georgio captioned the snap, which was captured by New York City–based company Brett Matthews Photography.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Georgio explained, “We were in Central Park in the middle of a photo and someone asked us if it was an engagement shoot and if they could join in. We had our backs turned to them and had no idea who it was until we turned around and obviously said yes.” She continued, “They were going for a walk and were so incredibly sweet. Amy suggested the picture and decided she and Chris should mimic the pose Greg and I were in.”

Georgio added that Schumer, who tied the knot with Fischer in a beachside ceremony in February of this year, also offered up some kind words to the couple. “She told us marriage was awesome and wished us all the best,” she said.

By now, the Trainwreck star is an old pro at photobombing engagement and wedding shoots. Back in 2015, while on a run through Central Park, a sweaty, athleisure-clad Schumer stopped to give a wave in Joseph Turnage and Brandon Moore’s engagement pics. And in 2017, Schumer took her talents across the pond when she stumbled upon the just-married Jasmin Pereira and Jon Bates, who were taking wedding-day photos in London between their ceremony and reception, and made sure to pull some funny faces in the background of their snapshots before she went on her merry way.

An Australian Choir Performed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Wedding Song, “Stand by Me”

GettyImages-1052438250.jpg

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have spent much of their royal tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga so far attending meetings and other official events. But they’ve also gotten plenty of face time with well-wishers, who line the streets outside each scheduled event in hopes of shaking Harry’s and Meghan’s hands and giving them a little present or bouquet of flowers. On Thursday, for example, Meghan received a handmade pasta necklace from a little boy, while Harry was treated to a serenade of “Stand by Me,” his and Meghan’s wedding song, which he seemed to thoroughly enjoy.

As seen in a video posted by The Daily Mail, Harry was rapidly making his way down a line of people in Melbourne when he suddenly heard a group of people toward the back of the crowd singing Ben E. King’s 1961 classic. “Who’s singing?” he asked. Then, upon spotting the singers, he pointed at them and quipped, “Much better than the original!”

The performance was reportedly organized by Australian morning radio show Fifi, Fev & Byron. Per The Daily Mail, just before the Duke of Sussex passed by, the group ripped off their jackets to reveal T-shirts printed with the name of the show and a picture of Meghan and Harry smiling at each other, framed by a red heart. And though the entire stunt seemed to go down without a hitch, the show’s hosts confessed afterward that they were surprised at how smoothly it went: “We don’t know how Fev managed to pull off greeting Meghan and Harry with a choir singing their wedding song! THIS WAS AMAZING!!” they tweeted.

The song was the perfect choice for a serenade, since it was also performed by the Kingdom Choir at Meghan and Harry’s wedding earlier this year. As previously reported, the British group, accompanied by 19-year-old cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, performed the sweet tune just before the lovebirds exchanged their vows during their May nuptials. We’ll just leave this here:

People Are Already Taking Bets on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Child's Name

GettyImages-1052220638.jpg

Upon hearing that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child, the initial reaction of many, it seems, was to immediately start spouting out guesses for the next royal baby‘s name. According to multiple outlets, on Monday, mere hours after Kensington Palace released the pregnancy announcement, betting companies were already setting the odds for Meghan and Harry’s firstborn’s potential names.

If the baby is a girl, oddsmaker Paddy Power already has Diana, in honor of Harry’s late mother, as the leading option, E! News reports. Ladbrokes, however, has given Victoria top odds, per Express, while Fitzdares has Alice in the top spot, according to the Evening Standard. Other potential names for a daughter include Elizabeth, Isabella, Mary, and Alexandria. If Harry and Meghan welcome a son, however, Ladbrokes has Albert, Arthur, and Philip in a three-way tie, each with 10 to one odds, while Fitzdares has Alexander shooting far above the rest, with odds of two to one.

Though the majority of bets so far have been placed on more traditional names, these outlets also note that it’s entirely likely that the parents-to-be could put a slightly edgier moniker on their child’s birth certificate. For one thing, since Meghan is American, she doesn’t have any particularly strong ties to these family names. And for another, her and Harry’s child will be seventh in line to the throne and unlikely to ever be king or queen, and could thus get away with having a more modern name.

As you ponder your own predictions for the baby’s name, here are some things to consider. Harry’s full name is Henry Charles Albert David, and Meghan’s is Rachel Meghan Markle—either of which could certainly be mined for naming inspiration. Additionally, Harry’s older brother Prince William paid tribute to Princess Diana (and to their grandmother Queen Elizabeth II) when he and Kate Middleton named their own daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. Finally, Will and Kate also have included the name Louis in both of their sons’ names; perhaps Harry and Meghan will carry on this tradition as a bit of an inside joke.

Pippa Middleton and James Matthews Welcome Their First Child

GettyImages-1054164982.jpg

Pippa Middleton and James Matthews are officially parents!! The happy couple welcomed their first child, a boy, on Monday afternoon, People reports, at around 1:58 p.m. London time. The baby boy weighed 8 lbs., 9 oz., and Middleton’s rep told the outlet, “Everyone is delighted, and mother and baby are doing well.” Middleton reportedly gave birth at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in the Paddington neighborhood of London, the same place where her older sister, Kate Middleton, has welcomed Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis in recent years.

George, Charlotte, and Louis’s newest cousin arrived only hours after Kensington Palace confirmed that they’ll be meeting yet another cousin—from their Uncle Harry and Aunt Meghan Markle—sometime in Spring 2019.

Middleton and Matthews confirmed they were expecting in June, not long after they celebrated their first wedding anniversary on May 20. The big reveal came via Middleton’s regular fitness column for Waitrose Weekend, in an article she wrote about “exercising during pregnancy.” “When I learned the happy news that I was pregnant, I realized I needed to adjust my normal 4 to 5 day a week routine and find a way of continuing my exercise safely throughout the three trimesters,” she wrote. “I’ve noticed my body change and weight increase, but through effective exercise and sports I feel that it’s being strengthened to support a healthy pregnancy, birth, and recovery.”

Rumors that Middleton and Matthews were expecting a baby cropped up in April, overlapping just slightly with Kate’s own, third pregnancy. However, Pippa Middleton waited several weeks after Prince Louis arrived, on April 23, to confirm her own pregnancy, and she was among the first to visit her sister and the newborn back home at the palace the very next day.

Prince Louis Did Not Attend Princess Eugenie's Royal Wedding

GettyImages-994597726.jpg

At Princess Eugenie’s royal wedding on Friday, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who served as pageboy and bridesmaid, respectively, stole the show as they tumbled in the wind and goofed off with the rest of the miniature bridal party. Noticeably missing from this rambunctious squad, however, was Prince Louis, who opted not to attend the royal nuptials.

As both his parents did RSVP “yes” to the year’s second royal wedding, the 5-month-old was likely left at home at Kensington Palace, in the very capable hands of his family’s longtime nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo or another equally qualified caretaker, People reports. While the royal family has yet to issue a statement about its youngest member’s notable absence, it’s safe to assume that it’s because Louis has been on this earth for less than six months, and therefore has yet to fully grasp the tricky ins and outs of royal wedding etiquette—presumably the same reason he skipped his uncle Prince Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle, which took place a little more than three weeks after his birth.

If that’s not an adequate excuse, there’s also the possibility that Louis just had to clock in some valuable tummy time. Or perhaps Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s exchange of “I dos” overlapped with a preset nap—and, as we can all surely agree, sleep for a newborn is way more important than even a televised family gathering attended by the likes of Cara Delevingne, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Ellie Goulding, and a whole host of other A-listers.

To date, Prince Louis has only been seen in public twice. He was first presented to the world on the day of his birth, April 23, when Kate Middleton and Prince William posed for photos while carrying him out of the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London. About three months later, the tiniest royal joined his family as he stepped out (figuratively, of course) for another royal outing: his christening, at the Chapel Royal of St. James’s Palace. At this rate, there’s a good chance we’ll get our next glimpse of Louis sometime this month, perhaps in a new series of photos shot by his mom in honor of his six-month birthday on October 23.

Priyanka Chopra Says She Dropped a “Hint” About Wanting a Tiffany & Co. Engagement Ring

shutterstock_editorial_9876574t_huge.jpg

Romantic comedies have a way of influencing our plans for our own love lives—don’t tell me you’ve never dreamed of falling in love You’ve Got Mail–style in an early-2000s AIM chatroom! Priyanka Chopra, for one, knows this all too well. In an interview with People this week, she explained the cinematic reason why she had her heart set on receiving a diamond Tiffany & Co. engagement ring from Nick Jonas, and how she subtly encouraged him to make her rom-com dreams come true.

“Well, I may have dropped that hint. I think we had a conversation about it when we were dating and I’ve always known it had to be Tiffany,” Chopra said while attending a Tiffany & Co. event in New York City on Tuesday night. “I just knew it since I was a kid. First, it was Breakfast at Tiffany’s that did it for every girl in the world, and then, of course, Sweet Home Alabama came and put a stamp on it that it has to be Tiffany!”

She added, “Since I was a little girl, it was just something that was stuck in my head. And I may have said that, and I guess he remembered.”

While the Quantico actress did get her gorgeous Tiffany ring—it’s a large, cushion-cut diamond surrounded by smaller, tapered baguettes—the proposal didn’t actually happen just like it did in Sweet Home Alabama, despite previous reports. Over the summer, when news broke that Jonas had proposed to Chopra, multiple outlets reported that he popped the question in the middle of an actual Tiffany & Co. store that he rented out for the day, just as Patrick Dempsey’s character did when he proposed to Reese Witherspoon’s character in the 2002 film.

But Chopra set the record straight, telling People that while Jonas did, in fact, shut down an entire Tiffany store, she wasn’t in attendance. “No, I wasn’t there. He and his brothers went and did a whole thing to buy the ring for his future wife,” she said. Still a pretty movie-worthy moment!

Michelle Williams's Wedding Ring Finally Made Its Red Carpet Debut

no thumb

Michelle Williams waited a few weeks to reveal, in her September 2018 cover interview with Vanity Fair, that she’d married musician Phil Elverum, so it only makes sense that she’d wait several more weeks after that to unveil her wedding band. The new bling made its public debut on Monday, when Williams attended the Venom premiere in Los Angeles, People reports.

The ring appears to be a simple, slim band made of either silver or platinum, and was the only piece of jewelry Williams had on for the red carpet event. It perfectly complemented the floor-length Louis Vuitton gown she wore, which was covered in a sparkly silver design, and featured delicate white lace at the hips and along the sleeves and plunging V-neck.

Though Williams and Elverum were spotted taking a walk together last week, their first joint appearance since she broke the news of their marriage, her ring wasn’t visible in any paparazzi shots from the outing published by People. The duo did, however, look extremely happy together, holding hands and flashing huge smiles while walking and talking together.

In the Vanity Fair interview, Williams revealed that she and Elverum had plans to marry before its late July publish date. They tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in the Adirondacks, surrounded by only a few friends and their daughters. Williams called her relationship with the singer-songwriter “very sacred and very special.” “I never gave up on love,” she said. “Obviously I’ve never once in my life talked about a relationship, but Phil isn’t anyone else. And that’s worth something. Ultimately the way he loves me is the way I want to live my life on the whole. I work to be free inside of the moment…I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Travel to Sussex, Their Namesake County

no thumb

When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry arrived in the English county of Sussex on Wednesday, all was right in the world: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were, appropriately, in Sussex, Meghan and Harry were back on their joint royal outing grind, and Meghan’s hair had made its triumphant return to the now-famous low, slightly undone bun. This is the first time we’ve seen the bun in a while, since she’s taken to wearing her hair down and either pin-straight or in beachy waves for recent appearances.

The duchess’s ‘do on Wednesday, in fact, was almost exactly the same one she wore to her wedding in May—so perhaps it was paying homage to the day she received her Sussex title. The bun was low and securely pinned to the nape of her neck, her hair was parted right down the middle, and a few face-framing tendrils were loosely curled and left free to add movement and soften the look. As you probably recall, Meghan’s wedding hair was almost exactly the same, though the actual bun on that day was slightly more intricate.

It makes sense that Meghan would repeat this style time and time (and time) again, since, as her wedding hairstylist Serge Normant explained to Brides shortly after the ceremony, it only takes about 45 minutes to create—less if the day isn’t as important as, you know, your literal wedding day—and perfectly captures Meghan’s fuss-free vibe.

“Her style is so easy and not contrived,” he explained. “I wasn’t about reinvention…I wanted something very loose and easy which is why we chose a very loose bun…I wanted her to be able to tuck it behind her ears if she wanted to because that is what she normally does.”

According to People, Meghan complemented Wednesday’s chic hairstyle with a forest green silk shirt from & Other Stories and a matching green leather Hugo Boss pencil skirt, a beige cashmere Giorgio Armani coat, and coordinating beige Stuart Weitzman pumps. She also carried a small, green leather version of the Gabriela Hearst “Nina” handbag.

Meghan and Harry are in Sussex just for the day. So far, per social media updates from Kensington Palace, they’ve receive an extremely warm welcome from the locals, visited one of just two existing authentic copies of the Declaration of Independence, and headed on to the University of Chichester. Next up, they’ll travel to East Sussex, where they’ll visit the Royal Pavilion, the Survivors Network of Britain, and the Peacehaven Youth Centre.

Gisele Bündchen Shares Details About Her and Tom Brady's 2009 Wedding Celebration in Costa Rica

no thumb

Instagram hadn’t yet been invented when Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady tied the knot in 2009, and the private pair declined to sell photos of their wedding to a tabloid, so we’ve had to rely on their more recent throwback photos to glean even the tiniest details about their big day. In her new book, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life, however, Bündchen finally opens up about her and Brady’s second ceremony, which took place in Costa Rica in April 2009, a few weeks after they officially sealed the deal in a quieter church ceremony in Santa Monica, California.

In an excerpt from Lessons (which hit bookshelves on Tuesday) published by Boston.com, the supermodel describes the low-key and intimate ceremony, which took place at sunset in her and Brady’s home in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. “Around [40] people gathered in our open living room: Tom’s and my entire extended family—including nieces—and three good friends apiece. On a nearby table strewn with candles and assorted crystals sat two bowls, one containing honey and the other rice. The honey, it is said, would sweeten our future, and the rice anticipates prosperity,” she writes, adding that then-2-year-old Jack, Brady’s son from a previous relationship, served as ring bearer for the “brief” ceremony, and that she wore a simple white slip dress and no shoes.

“There was no formal wedding reception afterward. It was more like a free-for-all, a joyful, relaxed party, just the way I’d always imagined it would be. People ate Mexican food and drank margaritas. They sat or stood in the kitchen, or on the lawn, or by the side of the pool. My sister Pati and Tom’s sister Julie each read a beautiful poem, and everyone had a slice of the chocolate wedding cake. Tom had made playlists—his had songs by Ray LaMontagne, Amos Lee, James Taylor, and others—and at some point my friend Nino, whom I’ve known since my earliest days in New York and who’s like a brother to me, plugged in his iPod. The kids went swimming in the pool, while guests danced around in their bathing suits,” Bündchen continues.

“I remember drinking two margaritas, and after two margaritas you don’t remember or care about very much,” she writes. “But I do remember looking for, and finding, Tom, and though I can’t remember who led and who followed—does it matter?—we started to dance. We are still dancing, and growing through the ups and downs of life.”

Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk Will Reportedly Marry in the Hamptons This Weekend

no thumb

Prepare yourself: This weekend might be an extremely Goop-y one. Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk are planning on tying the knot in a very private ceremony at their Hamptons home sometime in the next few days, multiple sources with “close ties to the wedding” claimed this week to Harper’s Bazaar. Other sources have corroborated these reports to E! News, specifying that the nuptials will go down on Saturday, specifically, just two days after Paltrow celebrated her 46th birthday.

According to E!, the wedding weekend will feature a packed slate of activities for the guests, including a birthday party for the Goop founder, cocktail parties (yes, plural!), and a round of golf, if they’re so inclined. Those guests, per the sources, will include a whole host of Paltrow and Falchuk’s A-list friends, like Cameron Diaz, Robert Downey Jr., and Reese Witherspoon. It’s unknown whether Chris Martin will drop by to watch his ex consciously re-couple with another man, but it seems likely, since he and Paltrow have remained remarkably close since their 2014 split.

Though the wedding is sure to be filled with Paltrow’s signature Goop-y taste, it’ll likely be due more to the work of a talented team of planners than to any micromanaging from Paltrow herself. In an interview with E! in June, the Oscar winner explained that she wasn’t exactly taking the lead in her wedding planning. “I’m very busy, so I’m actually not that involved in it. I have so much going on and I’m sort of outsourcing that,” she said. “I’m probably the least ‘bridezilla’ person—probably to a fault—that has ever come across my wedding planner’s office doors.”

Paltrow and Falchuk, who first met on the set of Glee when Paltrow was guest starring and Falchuk was executive producing, have been dating since 2014. They confirmed their engagement earlier this year in a joint statement, which was followed a few days later by the reveal of their cutesy cover image for the “Sex & Love” issue of Goop magazine. “We feel incredibly lucky to have come together at this juncture in our lives when our collective successes and failures can serve as building blocks for a healthy and happy relationship,” the pair said in the statement.

In April, immediately after Paltrow returned home from her bachelorette getaway to Cabo, the couple gathered their nearest and dearest for a blowout engagement party. The black-tie event took place at the Los Angeles Theatre, was hosted by Ryan Murphy, and had a guest list packed with stars like Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Kate Hudson, and Chelsea Handler. Though there was some speculation at the time that the festive soirée had actually been a wedding ceremony, subsequent reports claimed that Paltrow would be walking down the aisle on the East Coast sometime after Labor Day—reports that now appear to be coming true.

Wedding bells are ringing in the town of Riverdale! On Wednesday, Jordan Connor announced on Instagram that he’d proposed to longtime girlfriend Jinjara Mitchell over the weekend. Both he and Mitchell shared sweet messages about this new stage of their relationship, as well as plenty of gorgeous photos from the proposal, which took place in the scenic Tofino district of British Columbia’s Vancouver Island.

“The most important question I’ve ever asked… also the easiest! Jinjara Mitchell, you are my best friend and the love of my life. Let’s get married!!” Connor captioned a series of photos from Saturday (September 22), all of which, he noted, were taken by his brother and sister, Brad and Nicole Yuen. The snapshots show Connor getting down on one knee and then embracing Mitchell, all while the pair are surrounded by a breathtaking sunset on the beach.

Mitchell also uploaded photos of her and Connor kissing and cuddling, moments after the proposal, with craggy hills and the Pacific Ocean behind them. “Yes, yes, YES! Meghan Markle Gave a Heartfelt Speech About the “Labor of Love” That Is the 'Together' Charity Cookbook

no thumb

On Thursday, only a few days after Kensington Palace announced Meghan Markle‘s first solo royal charity endeavor, the Duchess of Sussex hosted a luncheon in celebration of her new project, Together: Our Community Cookbook. The book, available September 25, contains recipes and stories from the women who work in London’s Hubb Community Kitchen, a communal cooking and dining space served by and for the communities impacted by the tragic Grenfell Tower fire last year. At Thursday’s event, as Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry, and mom, Doria Ragland, looked on, the duchess stood up in front of the women of Hubb and other guests—to whom she had reportedly just served lunch—to open up about the time she spent working in the kitchen and on the cookbook, and about Hubb’s far-reaching impact.

According to ITV‘s royal correspondent Chris Ship, Meghan spoke (without notes) for nearly three minutes. In videos Ship captured at the event and shared on Twitter, per Elle, the duchess looks excited and grateful to be launching the project and speaks from the heart about its importance.

“Working on this project for the past nine months has been a tremendous labor of love,” she began. “I had just recently moved to London, and I felt so immediately embraced by the women in the kitchen: their warmth, their kindness, and also to be able to be in this city and to see in this one small room how multicultural it was. On a personal level, I feel so proud to live in a city that can have so much diversity. It’s 12 countries represented in this one group of women! It’s pretty outstanding.”

Meghan continued, “There’s so many people to thank. Of course, Penguin Random House, your support and belief in this from the beginning has been just incredible. And Al Manaar, thank you so much for the support and seeing this through for us. Our team at Kensington Palace and the Royal Foundation—on a personal note, I’m especially grateful to them because this is my first project, so I appreciate your support in the vision I had for this and seeing it come to fruition. And then everyone behind the scenes, I mean, it truly took a village to see this through!

“Everyone embraced this so deeply because it’s been a passion project for all of us, and for very good reason. I said in the foreword that this is more than a cookbook. And what I mean by that is, the power of food is more than just the meal itself. It is the story behind it. And when you get to know the story of the recipe, you get to know the person behind it. And that’s what we’re talking about in terms of coming together, to really engage and talk, and to be able to celebrate what connects us rather than what divides us. That, I believe, is the ethos of Together,” she said.

Meghan ended her gracious speech by turning the attention back to the women at the core of the project. “So, to the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of this adventure with you,” she said. “I’m so privileged to know you. I’m so excited to see the projects you’re going to continue to do in your own community and the community at large, and also how you’re going to inspire people globally by sharing your stories and your recipes. It’s so impactful. You can see, just in a few days alone—and the book’s not even out yet—what you’ve been able to do. That’s a testament to what this means to people, and I’m so proud of you.”

Lady Gabriella Windsor, Prince Harry's Cousin, Is Engaged to Thomas Kingston

no thumb

Hopefully, the royal family saved the decorations from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s wedding and will do so again after Princess Eugenie’s upcoming nuptials, since they’ll soon have yet another royal wedding to host. On Wednesday, Buckingham Palace announced in a statement that Lady Gabriella Windsor is engaged to Thomas Kingston, and they’re set to wed sometime in spring 2019, according to The Telegraph. Kingston proposed in August, while he and Lady Gabriella were vacationing on the Isle of Sark.

Lady Gabriella is the daughter of Prince Michael of Kent, first cousin to Queen Elizabeth II, according to People. Per The Telegraph, “Ella” is a senior director at Branding Latin America and regularly contributes to publications like The London Magazine. Kingston, meanwhile, works in frontier market investment as a director of Devonport Capital. Interestingly, Kingston reportedly previously dated Pippa Middleton. But there appear to be no hard feelings between the Middletons and the Windsors, since Ella and Thomas attended Middleton’s wedding to James Matthews in 2017, according to royal correspondent Rebecca English.

Before Lady Gabriella Windsor walks down the aisle, however, another of her royal cousins will do so first. Her cousin Princess Eugenie is set to marry Jack Brooksbank next month. The big wedding will take place on Friday, October 12, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, the same place where Prince Harry married Meghan Markle earlier this year. Eugenie’s nuptials reportedly include an 850-person guest list, 1,200 more viewing spots for members of the public, and a mind-boggling budget. Luckily, Ella and Thomas will have several months to figure out how to top her other cousins’ royal weddings—they’ll need it.

Watch Meghan Markle See Her Givenchy Wedding Dress the Day Before the Royal Wedding

no thumb

Seeing your wedding dress ahead of your big day is bound to fill you with excitement, maybe a bit of anxiety, and a dozen other emotions. Now, just imagine that in addition to your friends, family, and soon-to-be spouse, millions of other onlookers will also be seeing you in your gown. We’d expect some serious nerves! But, when Meghan Markle was met with that exact scenario the day before her royal wedding to Prince Harry, the newly minted duchess proved to be incredibly cool, calm, and collected. (Would you ever expect her to not keep her poise?) Luckily, the moment Markle saw her Givenchy wedding dress was captured on camera for an upcoming docuseries about Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of the World, and can be seen in a brand-new teaser trailer for the doc released Tuesday by ITV.

In the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it clip, Meghan, wearing the navy Roland Mouret dress she donned the day before her nuptials, is seen smiling over her gorgeous gown. While carefully examining her delicate veil, which was embroidered with the national flowers of each Commonwealth country, the duchess can be heard saying, “Fifty-three countries, oh my goodness! It will keep us busy.”

Indeed it will: In just a few weeks, she and Prince Harry will set out on their first royal tour of the Commonwealth, traveling to Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand for about two weeks in October.

Meghan’s participation in the two-part docuseries will also mark her first televised interview since her wedding. Per ITV, in the doc, Meghan opens up about “her wedding dress and her early interactions with the Commonwealth, which means so much to her grandmother-in-law.” Besides paying homage to all 53 Commonwealth nations in her wedding ensemble and embarking on royal visits to several of those countries, Meghan will also continue Queen Elizabeth’s work with the Commonwealth as she accompanies Harry in his own duties as a Commonwealth Youth Ambassador.

Queen of the World, featuring Meghan’s interview and—fingers crossed—a few more special moments between her and her wedding dress, will air in the U.K. on ITV on September 25, and in the U.S. on HBO on October 1.

2018 Emmys: Producer and Director Glenn Weiss Proposes to His Girlfriend During Acceptance Speech

GettyImages-1035170388.jpg

Producer and director Glenn Weiss arrived at Monday night’s 2018 Emmys with a few statuettes already under his belt, and ended the ceremony with one more Emmy and a brand-new fiancée. About halfway through the show, Weiss was awarded the trophy for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for his position as the director of this year’s Academy Awards. Though his acceptance speech started out fairly run-of-the-mill, it soon took a shocking, heartwarming turn.

After doling out a few thank-yous, Weiss began speaking of his late mother, whom he said would’ve been the proudest of his big win. “Part of my heart is broken. I don’t think it will ever be repaired. But she’s in me and she always will be. Mom always believed in finding the sunshine in things and she adored my girlfriend Jan. Jan, you are the sunshine in my life. And Mom was right, don’t ever let go of your sunshine,” he said, before becoming visibly nervous.

“You wonder why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend? Because I want to call you my wife,” Weiss told a shocked Jan Svendsen, who was sitting in the audience. The crowd, predictably, went wild.

Weiss then pulled an heirloom ring from his suit pocket as Svendsen made her way up to the stage. “This is the ring that my dad put on my mom’s finger 67 years ago. And to my sisters and brothers: I didn’t swipe it, Dad knows I have it, OK?” he joked. “Jan, I want to put this ring that my mom wore on your finger in front of all these people and in front of my mom and your parents watching from above. Will you marry me?”

With tears in both of their eyes, Svendsen accepted Weiss’s proposal and gave him a huge kiss onstage. And that is what we call a Hollywood ending.

Meghan Markle Collaborates on Cookbook Supporting Those Impacted by the Grenfell Tower Fire

In her now-defunct lifestyle blog The Tig, Meghan Markle professed time and again to being a foodie. She shared countless recipes for her favorite meals, often pairing them with stories about her love of food and its power to bring people together. Though she shut down the blog and her social media accounts—no more foodstagrams!—before marrying Prince Harry and becoming an official member of the royal family, that definitely doesn’t mean Meghan has had to abdicate her foodie status. In a series of tweets on Monday, Kensington Palace announced that the Duchess of Sussex’s latest charitable endeavor concerns a new cookbook, Together: Our Community Cookbook, the proceeds of which will go toward communities affected by the devastating 2017 Grenfell Tower fire.

In photos and videos shared by the palace, Meghan cooks and laughs alongside the women of the community, who came together after the fire to start a communal kitchen. “Last summer, a group of women gathered in a communal kitchen at the Al Manaar Centre in West London, where they could prepare fresh food for their families, friends, and neighbours,” the palace tweeted. “As they cooked together and shared recipes, as a community they began to connect, heal, and look forward. Word spread and more women joined in—this was the start of the Hubb Community Kitchen.”

Per the palace, Meghan has been making “regular private visits” to the kitchen since January, and was “inspired by how the project empowers women at a grassroots level.” She supported the women in their efforts to create the cookbook, and has penned its foreword—and even makes a cameo appearance on its cover. Profits from the cookbook will go straight to the Hubb Community Kitchen, named after the Arabic word for “love,” and will help it stay open up to seven days a week.

“I immediately felt connected to this community kitchen; it is a place for women to laugh, grieve, cry, and cook together. Melding cultural identities under a shared roof, it creates a space to feel a sense of normalcy—in its simplest form, the universal need to connect, nurture, and commune through food, through crisis or joy—something we can all relate to,” the duchess said in a statement, via the Royal Foundation. “Through this charitable endeavor, the proceeds will allow the kitchen to thrive and keep the global spirit of community alive.”

More information about the project can be found here, and the cookbook, which contains more than 50 recipes from the women of the communal kitchen and will be officially released on September 20, can be pre-ordered here.

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin Reportedly Took a Trip to the NYC Marriage Bureau

no thumb

Set your countdown clocks and Google alerts, because there’s a very, very good chance that Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin might be getting married sometime between now and November 13, somewhere in the state of New York. The latest intel on the matter arrived Thursday afternoon in the form of a blurry paparazzi shot and a few witness statements, and it is, in fact, extremely convincing. Per TMZ, the photo in question was snapped as Bieber and Baldwin walked up the steps of the New York City Clerk’s Office, which contains the city’s Marriage Bureau, the distributor of marriage licenses.

Eyewitnesses inside the office told TMZ that the lovebirds appeared emotional over the ordeal, with Bieber reportedly even shedding a few tears while picking up the (alleged) license with his fiancée. “I can’t wait to marry you, baby,” he reportedly told Baldwin at one point.

If true, and Bieber and Baldwin are indeed now in possession of a marriage license, previous reports that the pair were waiting until 2019 to tie the knot would be rendered completely inaccurate. According to the Clerk’s Office, once obtained, a marriage license can’t be signed for at least 24 hours and stays valid for only 60 days. Additionally, it can only be used for weddings that take place within New York state, meaning the Biebwin nuptials would likely occur in the vicinity of New York City, sometime between Friday afternoon and midnight on November 13. That narrows things down.

Just this week, Baldwin spilled some details about her upcoming wedding. “I just picture lights strung everywhere,” she told The Cut on Thursday. “I think having it in the woods would be so beautiful.” At the time, the 21-year-old also hinted that the wedding would be on the West Coast in 2019, making the errand she ran with her husband-to-be later that day all the more confusing. Perhaps the duo were simply mapping out the route they’ll eventually take when it’s actually time to pick up their marriage license? Alternatively, maybe Bieber and Baldwin didn’t even visit the Marriage Bureau at all and just stopped by the City Clerk’s Office to learn more about lobbying procedures or to start the process of becoming Commissioners of Deeds. All equally exciting options!

Meghan Markle Is “Still the Same Person” She Was Before Becoming Royal, Per Her Makeup Artist

no thumb

Since announcing her engagement to Prince Harry last year and marrying him at Windsor Castle this past May, Meghan Markle has faced down more than her fair share of attacks from critics, cyberbullies, and her own family. Despite having to deal with all this pressure, however, Meghan has withstood it all with grace and poise, and, according to a close friend, has remained true to her old self the entire time.

In an interview with People this week, Daniel Martin, who was responsible for the Duchess of Sussex’s glowy wedding day makeup, opened up about Meghan’s strength of character amid the whirlwind of drama that often seems to follow her every move. “There’s a small group of us that check in with her and see how she’s doing, but she’s still the same person,” Martin said. “That’s why it’s so bizarre for me sometimes to even think about her in that way, because that’s not who I know.”

Meghan’s commitment to keeping this small group of old friends close could be a big part of why she hasn’t been changed by all the glitz and glamour of her new life as a member of the royal family. Just a few weeks ago, it was reported that the former Suits star had taken a secret trip back to Toronto to spend a low-key weekend with her close friend Jessica Mulroney. That getaway came shortly after Meghan and Harry were reported to have jetted off to Italy to spend a couple’s weekend at the Lake Como home of their new friends George and Amal Clooney.

And earlier this week, royal expert Omid Scobie told Good Morning America that Meghan’s mom, Doria Ragland, had gone completely under the radar when she flew across the pond to stay with Meghan and Harry in their Oxfordshire country home sometime during the summer. “Doria is said to enjoy a close relationship with Harry and continues to be a pillar of strength for Meghan,” Scobie tweeted about the incognito vacay.
