Meghan Markle Is Reportedly Finding Some Royal Rules “A Little Frustrating”

For 36 years of her life, Meghan Markle was a regular American citizen, free to do whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted. It makes sense, then, that ever since the former Suits star stepped into her new role as a full-fledged member of the British royal family, she’s reportedly had a bit of trouble getting used to all the nit-picky ins and outs of royal etiquette.

In this week’s issue of People, a royal “source” said that the Duchess of Sussex “has found certain rules in the royal household difficult to understand, like the fact that the queen prefers women in dresses or skirts rather than trouser suits, and is often asking Harry why things have to be done in a certain way.” The insider added, “I think she finds it a little frustrating at times, but this is her new life, and she has to deal with it.”

Indeed, though Meghan has yet to put away all her pants for good—she wore a black Givenchy pantsuit while on her royal tour of Ireland with Prince Harry last week and, just this past weekend, opted for Ralph Lauren trousers while attending the Ladies’ Singles Final at Wimbledon with sister-in-law Kate Middleton—she does appear to be following the “rules” and only wearing dresses and skirts when she’s in the presence of the queen.

Additionally, as royal photographer Mark Stewart told People, Meghan has her husband to rely on to help her out with tricky royal etiquette. “You can see Prince Harry’s hands-on approach, steering her, helping her,” Stewart said. For example, when Meghan and Harry joined the rest of the royal family in attending the Trooping the Colour celebration in June, Harry could be seen telling his wife when to curtsy. At the same event, lip readers noticed that, at one point, the prince checked in on Meghan, asking if she was “okay,” as he’s sweetly done several times before.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Honor Nelson Mandela's Legacy at New London Exhibition

After returning from their first official overseas trip last week and spending at least part of the weekend apart, while Meghan Markle attended the Ladies’ Singles Final of Wimbledon with sister-in-law Kate Middleton on Saturday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned on Tuesday to their regular routine of joint royal outings. The pair made their way to London’s Southbank Centre in the early afternoon to attend the opening of an exhibition paying tribute to Nelson Mandela, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the late activist’s birth.

For the appearance, Markle wore a blush pink sleeveless trench dress by Canadian designer Nonie (still available here for $823). She paired the chic dress with a matching pale pink oversized clutch and nude pointy-toed pumps, and she wore her hair in her now-signature middle-parted messy bun, with a few face-framing tendrils flying free. Prince Harry, meanwhile, looked equally summery in casual khaki pants, a crisp white dress shirt, and a light gray suit jacket.

According to tweets from the palace, upon arriving at Southbank Centre on Tuesday, Harry and Meghan met with 92-year-old Andrew Mlangeni, who joined his friend Mandela in protesting apartheid in South Africa and was subsequently imprisoned for his activism; Mandela’s granddaughter Zamaswazi Dlamini-Mandela; and Paul and Adelaide Joseph, anti-apartheid advocates who were friends with Mandela and his second wife Winnie. The pair also took in a performance from the Ubunye Choir, comprised of people from the South African diaspora.

The Nelson Mandela: The Centenary exhibition, located in Queen Elizabeth Hall at Southbank Centre, will be open and free to the public from Tuesday afternoon until August 19. According to the exhibit’s website, it “provides insight into Mandela’s journey from young freedom fighter to becoming the inspiration for an international movement against South Africa’s violent and oppressive apartheid system, and an emblem of an ongoing struggle to build a more just and equitable world.”

Meghan Markle Reportedly Said She Misses Starring on Suits

Leaving one long-term job to start an entirely new career can be a daunting and difficult process—even if you’re making that transition from a starring role on a TV series to a lifetime position in the British royal family. Just ask Meghan Markle: While she and Prince Harry were in Ireland last week for their first official royal tour together, the Duchess of Sussex reportedly told a well-wisher that, like you, she also misses Suits.

Upon leaving the Irish Emigration Museum in Dublin on Wednesday, Harry and Meghan stopped to chat with members of the public waiting outside, including Dubliner Fiona Moore, according to the Daily Mail. “I’m a fan of Suits and I said to her that I miss it, and she said, ‘So do I,'” Moore told the outlet, adding that Markle “seemed very relaxed and was joking and laughing” while greeting other locals in the Irish capital.

Throughout her transition from Hollywood to Kensington Palace, Markle seems to have stayed in touch with her former Suits costars, hopefully making the career change a little easier. In May, several of her fellow actors, including Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres, Sarah Rafferty, Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, and Abigail Spencer, received invitations to the royal wedding—though, unfortunately, they didn’t make the cut for the ultra-exclusive guest list for the evening wedding reception. And later this fall, Markle will reportedly reunite with Macht and Rafferty when she and Prince Harry take a quick break from royal duties to stay at Macht’s Queensland, Australia, home.

Though Suits fans were hoping a mini-reunion could happen even sooner, at this September’s Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony, those dreams were dashed last week, when the long-running series was completely shut out from the list of nominees. That said, Markle’s submission for Emmy consideration made her the first British royal to ever be considered by the Television Academy, a pretty major achievement on its own.

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton Will Attend the Wimbledon Women's Final Together

This weekend, three members of royalty will come together for a momentous occasion: the Ladies’ Singles Final of Wimbledon. Sitting side-by-side in the stands will be Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, actual British royals, while Serena Williams, long-reigning queen of women’s tennis, will be playing on the court in front of them. Kensington Palace confirmed that the two duchesses would be attending Saturday’s match in a tweet on Thursday, noting that Kate is also an official patron of Wimbledon, and that Prince William will join his wife in attending the Gentlemen’s Singles Final the following day.

Meghan and Kate have both attended Wimbledon before, Kate in her role as Wimbledon patron, and Meghan, before marrying into the royal family, as a friend of Williams’. In fact, both women visited the All-England Club in 2016, Williams’s last Wimbledon before taking a break to welcome her 10-month-old daughter Alexis Olympia with husband Alexis Ohanian. That year, Kate watched the U.K.’s Andy Murray win in the Gentlemen’s Singles Final, while Meghan stopped by the players’ box earlier in the tournament to watch one of Williams’s matches—while, coincidentally, seated only a few rows away from Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton.

Williams secured her spot in the finals on Thursday, when she handily defeated German player Julia Görges in their semifinal match. On Saturday, she’ll face another German, Angelique Kerber, on Wimbledon’s Centre Court, where she’ll compete for her eighth singles trophy at the tournament, and her 24th Grand Slam title overall. The tennis pro and Markle have been close friends for some time now, with the former even scoring an exclusive invite to Markle and Prince Harry‘s wedding earlier this year—and shutting down rumors that the royal reception had included a few games of beer pong.

Cardi B Reportedly Received a $5,000 Gift Basket From Nicki Minaj After Giving Birth

no thumb

Thanks to not one but two lavish baby showers and a bevy of famous fans and friends, Cardi B and Offset had already amassed all the designer baby clothes and gear their child could possibly need well before Cardi gave birth. But this week, shortly after welcoming daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper allegedly received a baby gift that held an extra dose of significance, since it came from Nicki Minaj, with whom Cardi was rumored to be feuding for much of the past year.

According to The Blast, mere minutes after Cardi B revealed via Instagram on Wednesday that her and Offset’s first child together had arrived one day earlier, Minaj ordered a $5,000 gift basket to be sent to the new parents in Atlanta. The basket reportedly came from Los Angeles baby boutique Petit Trésor, and was assembled with instructions to make it “as girly as possible.” As such, the basket is said to have included high-end baby outfits, dolls, stuffed animals, and a sterling silver rattle for Kulture, plus a few organic “pampering items” for Cardi. Additionally, per The Blast, the boutique has received about two dozen similarly expensive orders since Cardi announced Kulture’s arrival on Wednesday.

In addition to the contents of these over-the-top gift baskets, Kulture already has plenty of stylish clothes, toys, and accessories. Last month, TMZ reported that Cardi B and Offset’s registry for their daughter included a bassinet that retails for $2,799—plus a request that it be covered in gold leaf for the very affordable price of $839—a miniature Bentley Bentayga for $700, and a $200 BEABA Babycook Set for making homemade baby food, among other top-of-the-line gear.

As seen in photos Cardi shared on her Instagram Story following both of her baby showers, not only did she receive many of the gifts on her registry, but her friends and family also bestowed countless more name-brand presents on her and Kulture, including a $275 pair of Gucci baby shoes, a $1,190 Gucci baby bag, and a “Bodak Yellow”-inspired stroller.

With a baby registry that extravagant, we can only imagine what Cardi’s wedding registry might look like. Here’s hoping that she and Offset are still planning a post-nuptial bash (the couple is already legally married), so we can fawn over all the sure-to-be lavish wedding gifts!

Prince Harry Knows How Many Kids He Doesn't Want With Meghan Markle

Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married and royal wedding fever finally died down, many of their well-wishers have shifted focus instead to the pair’s potential future children. While the duo was in Dublin, Ireland, this week for their first international royal outing together as a married couple, one such fan asked Harry point-blank when, exactly, he and Meghan were planning on starting a family. Though the Duke of Sussex skillfully sidestepped the question, he did give a little hint as to just how many kids he and the duchess would welcome when they’re ready to start building their brood.

Elaine Adam-Stewart told People on Wednesday that while chatting with Prince Harry in Dublin earlier in the day, she said, “My husband also has red hair and he gave me five children—when are you and Meghan going to get going?” In response, Adam-Stewart recalled, Harry “laughed and said, ‘Five children?— too many.'” Noted.

While five may be too many kids for Meghan and Harry, there’s a good chance that they will bring a few royal babies into the family in the near future. In November 2017, the newly engaged pair sat down for an interview with the BBC and were asked whether they had plans to start a family. “I think eventually, one step at a time, and we’ll start a family in the near future,” Harry said at the time.

Meghan has also previously hinted at her desire to have kids with Harry. In March, with a few weeks still to go before their wedding, the lovebirds made a royal visit to Belfast, Northern Ireland, where they met at one point with the husband-and-wife team behind a local baby-product company. Upon checking out some product samples, Meghan reportedly remarked, “I’m sure at some point we’ll need the whole thing. It’s very sweet.” Perhaps George, Charlotte, and Louis will be getting a little cousin or two (but not five) to play with sooner rather than later!

Cardi B and Offset Welcome Daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus

Baby Bardi has arrived! Cardi B and Offset welcomed their first child together, a daughter, on Tuesday, with Cardi announcing the news herself in an Instagram post the following day, in which she also revealed their daughter’s full name. “Kulture Kiari Cephus 07/10/18🎀🌸,” Cardi (born Belcalis Almanzar) wrote, also tagging Offset (né Kiari Kendrell Cephus) in the caption. In the Beyoncé-esque photo, Cardi poses nude while surrounded by countless bouquets of colorful flowers and her pregnant belly on full display.

According to TMZ, Cardi B gave birth at a hospital in the Atlanta area on Tuesday evening. Offset was reportedly by his wife’s side for the birth. Kulture is Cardi’s first child and Offset’s fourth; he has three young children, two sons and a daughter, from three previous relationships.

Though the pair attempted to keep Cardi’s pregnancy under wraps for as long as possible, rumors first surfaced that they were expecting a baby in February. The rapper subsequently shut down the rumors with an Instagram post in which she claimed she was just gaining weight. “Let me fat in peace,” she captioned the since-deleted post. Finally, while performing on Saturday Night Live in April, Cardi wordlessly confirmed her pregnancy when she wore a skin-tight dress that accentuated her growing bump during her rendition of “Be Careful.”

Cardi B and Offset were much more successful at keeping their marriage a secret. Though Offset proposed to Cardi onstage during a Philadelphia performance in October, it wasn’t until last month that the pair revealed that they had actually tied the knot in September 2017. “One morning in September we woke up and decided to get married. We found someone to marry us, and she did, just the two of us and my cousin,” she wrote in a Twitter post in June. “I said I do, with no dress no make up and no ring!”

Kate Middleton and Prince William Share a Giggle at Westminster Abbey Service

Kate Middleton and Prince William may not be holding hands and linking arms at official royal events like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, but that doesn’t mean their outings are completely devoid of public displays of affection. Instead, as evidenced by a sweet interaction the parents of three shared on Tuesday morning, when on duty as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, they simply seem to prefer exchanging little smiles and whispered comments, rather than any showier PDA.

The blink-and-you’ll-miss-it interaction went down at Westminster Abbey, where Will and Kate were attending a service in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force. As seen in a video captured of the royals before the service began, Harper’s Bazaar reports, Will and Kate were seated in the front row of the church when Will suddenly appeared to have a hard time stifling a chuckle. Apparently sensing her husband’s struggle, Kate turned to Will, who tried and failed to hide his smile by ducking his head, then gave in and, it seems, explained what exactly was so funny, causing Kate to break into a grin of her own. See the cute moment for yourself, here:

This isn’t the first time Prince William has been caught losing his composure in Westminster Abbey. In April, just two days after he and Kate welcomed Prince Louis into the family, Will attended the Anzac Day memorial service at the royal church. While sitting next to Harry and Meghan, Will was caught on camera blinking more and more slowly until fully dozing off for a minute. Unfortunately, since Kate stayed home from the event to be with their newborn, she wasn’t around to share a conspiratorial giggle with her exhausted husband or, you know, give him a shove to keep him awake.

Meghan Markle Wears Forest Green Givenchy Ensemble for First Official International Visit

We’re not even halfway through the week, but Meghan Markle is already three for three when it comes to elegant, royal outing–appropriate outfits. The latest in the Duchess of Sussex’s string of impeccable ensembles came on Tuesday afternoon, when she and Prince Harry touched down in Dublin for their first official overseas trip as a married couple.

For the visit, which kicks off Meghan and Harry’s first royal tour, Meghan wore a gorgeous forest green pencil skirt and matching elbow-length-sleeve crewneck top, both by Givenchy (her wedding dress designer!), according to Harper’s Bazaar. She accessorized the Emerald Isle-inspired outfit with nude suede pumps and a tan tote bag from Scottish designer Strathberry, and she wore her hair in a sleek low bun. (If you hurry, you can snag her smart tote at Saks Fifth Avenue before it sells out!) Prince Harry, apparently, was also inspired by their host country, opting for an olive green necktie with his navy blue suit.

While in Ireland, Meghan and Harry will attend a garden party at the British ambassador’s residence at Glencairn and meet Irish President Michael D. Higgins, according to the BBC. They’ll also visit Croke Park, the principal stadium for the Gaelic Athletic Association; see the historic Book of Kells at Trinity College; and pay their respects at Dublin’s famine memorial. Additionally, the royals will reportedly visit a co-working space for tech startups called DogPatch Labs, where they’re scheduled to chat with women in the tech industry as well as kids and young adults who are participating in workshops at DogPatch.

Meghan and Harry’s landing in Ireland was the second royal outing on Tuesday’s agenda for the newlyweds. Earlier in the day, before making their way across the Irish Sea, the pair joined Prince William and Kate Middleton in celebrating the Royal Air Force’s 100th anniversary with a service at Westminster Abbey. Meghan kept her hair in its stylish bun for that appearance, but swapped out her green ensemble for a custom A-line Dior gown and matching dramatic fascinator. And earlier this week, Markle donned another green dress, a belted Ralph Lauren look with matching fascinator, in honor of Prince Louis’ baptism.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Show a Tiny Bit of PDA at Royal Air Force Event

After taking a brief break from their usual subtle-yet-sweet displays of affection while attending a formal event with the queen in late June, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have made a total return to their usual levels of PDA—much to the relief of those who worried that the couple had already given up their rule-breaking ways after less than two months as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. While attending the Royal Air Force’s centenary event on Tuesday, Meghan and Harry were in noticeable contrast to Prince William and Kate Middleton, who typically refrain from any instances of PDA beyond a shared glance or whispered comment.

While walking into Westminster Abbey for the service, Meghan held on to the crook of Harry’s elbow; beside them, Will and Kate kept their hands demurely by their sides. For the event, Will, a pilot in the Royal Air Force, and Harry, a captain in the Army Air Corps, both dressed in full military regalia.

Meghan, meanwhile, wore a gorgeous navy A-line Dior gown with long sleeves, bateau neckline, and matching belt around her waist, which she paired with a matching clutch, nude pumps, small Cartier earrings, and a whimsical navy fascinator by Stephen Jones, per Vanity Fair. Kate opted for an elegant pale blue Alexander McQueen summer coat with nude heels, a flower-covered clutch, a diamond Air Cadets Dacre brooch, and a flower-topped Sean Barrett fascinator.

This is the second family gathering of the week for the young royals. On Monday, they assembled at the Chapel Royal of St. James’s Palace, along with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Charles, and Duchess Camilla, for the christening of Prince Louis. At that event, Harry and Meghan showed another tiny bit of PDA, holding hands as they walked into the church. Expect to see even more linked arms and hand-holding from the duo this week, as they commence their first official international outing in Dublin later on Tuesday.

Watch Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin Meet for the First Time, in 2009

Though Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin are now reportedly engaged, it was only a few years ago that they were just two awkward teens shyly greeting each other for the first time. Thankfully, footage of that fateful meeting resurfaced this week, according to Us Weekly, giving Biebwin fans the invaluable chance to study the moment the two lovebirds first locked eyes. Spoiler alert: It’s a little anticlimactic.

In the video, which, per the YouTube user’s caption, was captured at a 2009 event, Baldwin’s dad, Stephen, does most of the talking. “What’s up, bro? This is my daughter, Hailey,” he tells a floppy-haired Bieber, who would’ve been 14 or 15 at the time. Bieber shakes hands with Baldwin, age 12 or 13, who appears to be too shy to even crack a smile, while Stephen, ever the supportive dad, adds, “We’ve been enjoying your music lately.”

Years later, the video made a brief resurgence online and eventually found its way to Bieber himself. “Haha. Amazing,” he tweeted about the clip in early 2016, mere days after posting a photo on Instagram in which he and Baldwin make out during their New Year’s trip to St. Barts.

Earlier this year, Baldwin spoke to The Times of London about how meeting Bieber at such a young age had made their years-long friendship and on-again, off-again relationship such a roller-coaster ride. “Justin and I were friends for a long time,” she said. “I met him when I was really young and he was one of my best friends. Everybody knows that at a certain point in time that turned into something else, but that just happens when you’re 18, 19. It was what it was. We went through a long period of time when we weren’t friends. We didn’t speak for quite some time and there was a lot of weirdness that went on. We’ve moved past that.”

In the same interview, which was published just a few weeks before Bieber and Baldwin were spotted kissing and walking hand-in-hand in New York City — and less than two months before TMZ was first to report that they were engaged — the model denied that the pair were anything more than friends. “[The breakup] brought both of us to the realization that we just work much better as friends,” she said. “He’s somebody I really cherish. Now it’s a very mature situation. It’s good.”

Princess Charlotte and Prince George Will Reportedly Join Princess Eugenie's Bridal Party

After stealing the show at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in May, Princess Charlotte and Prince George will reportedly reprise their roles as the cutest members of the bridal party at second cousin Princess Eugenie‘s upcoming nuptials. According to a new report from the Daily Mail, Charlotte will serve as a flower girl at the ceremony, while her older brother will take on the responsibilities of page boy. Other pint-size page boys and flower girls will reportedly include Theodora Williams, daughter of musician Robbie Williams; Maud Windsor, daughter of Lord Freddie Windsor; and Louis de Givenchy, son of French banker Olivier de Givenchy.

The young prince and princess are already certified wedding-party experts. Prince George was previously a page boy at both Prince Harry’s and Pippa Middleton’s weddings, and although Princess Charlotte’s job title at those two ceremonies was technically bridesmaid, she’ll undoubtedly have no trouble making the transition to flower girl this time around.

In contrast with the friend-filled wedding parties of American weddings, it’s traditional for British brides to walk down the aisle ahead of a gaggle of tiny bridesmaids and page boys, and to appoint just one adult maid of honor, if any; while Kate Middleton chose to include sister Pippa in her wedding, Meghan Markle’s wedding party was strictly kids-only. Though Princess Eugenie has yet to announce her maid of honor, it’s widely believed that she’ll choose her older sister, Princess Beatrice. Eugenie hinted as much earlier this year when she posted a throwback photo on Instagram of her and Beatrice serving as bridesmaids at a wedding, writing, “90s throwback…wedding planning starts!!”

UK Press Pool/Getty Images

Eugenie is set to marry fiancé Jack Brooksbank in St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle, the same venue as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding. Buckingham Palace announced Eugenie’s engagement in a press release in late January, revealing that Brooksbank, whom she’s dated for seven years, had popped the question while the pair were on vacation in Nicaragua earlier that month. The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 12, giving George and Charlotte a few months to practice their walks down the aisle.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Made a Return to Their Regularly Scheduled PDA

Those keeping an eye on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s every move toward each other in order to decode their relationship can rest easy: On Thursday, the royal pair made a triumphant return to their usual levels of PDA. This week’s brief yet life-affirming hand-hold came just about a week after the Duke of Sussex appeared to reject an attempt at physical contact from his duchess at another public appearance together, leaving well-wishers worrying that the days of sweet back rubs and interlocked arms were already long gone after only six weeks of marriage.

Thursday’s PDA-filled appearance certainly put an end to those worries. On their way into the ‘Your Commonwealth’ Youth Challenge event at Marlborough House in London, Harry and Meghan were photographed walking hand in hand up the venue’s driveway, Harper’s Bazaar reports. Later, while the couple was standing in front of the assembled crowd, the duchess was seen lightly placing her hand on her husband’s arm, smiling, while sharing some thought or quip with him. Though the newlyweds mostly kept their hands to themselves for the rest of the day’s events, they continued to share meaningful glances throughout; at one point, photos show Meghan looking proudly and happily on as Prince Harry gave an address to the audience.

Yui Mok/Getty Images

Meghan and Harry’s return to casual displays of affection at public events after last week’s brief, hand-hold-less break could all come down to royal etiquette. After a video surfaced of the duo having to clasp their own hands together to apparently keep from holding hands at the queen’s Young Leaders Awards at the end of June, royal commentator Victoria Arbiter told Harper’s Bazaar that they had done so simply because “it was not the appropriate forum for Harry and Meghan to be laying on the PDA.” Arbiter continued, “There will of course be engagements in the future in which hand-holding and affection is perfectly acceptable, but tonight, in the presence of the queen, the couple showed the dignity and respect such an occasion affords.”

Katharine McPhee and David Foster Are Reportedly Engaged

After dating for a little over a year, Katharine McPhee and David Foster are engaged, according to TMZ. While the duo was in Capri, Italy, this past weekend, McPhee was reportedly seen wearing a sparkly diamond ring on her left hand and showing off that new bling to friends and family via FaceTime. Though neither McPhee nor Foster has commented on the exciting news, a rep for McPhee confirmed the engagement to TMZ.

This will be the second marriage for the singer-actress, who was married to Nick Cokas for six years before filing for divorce in 2014. Foster, meanwhile, has tied the knot four times previously, with B.J. Cook, Rebecca Dyer, Linda Thompson, and, most recently, Yolanda Hadid. The musician and record producer is a father to five daughters, including Sara Foster and her sister Erin, who once jokingly captioned a photo of McPhee on her Instagram Story “Excited about my new step mom.”

McPhee, 34, and Foster, 68, who originally met back in 2006 when Foster served as a guest mentor on McPhee’s season of American Idol, were first romantically linked in May 2017. At the time, per E! News, the pair was spotted on a PDA-filled dinner date at the Malibu restaurant Nobu. In the months since, McPhee and Foster have stepped out for regular dinner dates, attended Hollywood events together, and made the occasional appearance on each other’s Instagram feeds. Most recently, in the comments section of a photo Foster posted of himself on Monday, McPhee simply wrote, “I love you.”

It wasn’t until almost a year after their first date that they finally made their red-carpet debut as a couple, at this year’s Met Gala. On her way into the glamorous May 2018 event, McPhee reportedly told Entertainment Tonight that it was a “nice date night” with Foster.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
