Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas Are Delaying Their Honeymoon for a Very Un-Sexy Reason

After a beautiful, multi-day wedding celebration that included two ceremonies (one Christian, one Hindu), one might think that Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas would be ready to escape to a private resort for their honeymoon. (Plus, think of all the sponsored opportunities!)

That’s not happening quite yet, though. Why? A very un-sexy reason: work obligations. The newlyweds made their first official public appearance as a married couple at the India launch of the app Bumble in New Delhi. Chopra, who joined the company as an investor and advisor this fall, said that the date for the launch was set before her wedding—and she didn’t want to miss the important event.

Hindustan Times

“My work and Nick’s work are very important to us,” she told India’s NDTV. “My commitments matter to me a lot. My word is my bond. And we had decided to do this a long time ago before anyone was getting married and so I stuck to my commitment. But besides that it’s something I’m really excited about as well.”

OK, that makes sense. So where will they go once they are able to slip away? Chopra insists that even she doesn’t know, as the trip seems to be on Jonas to plan—not that they’d necessarily tell the world anyway. “I have no idea,” she said. “Right now, I have just work commitments this whole month … And I don’t know. We still haven’t figured out where. I think it’s going to be a surprise though. I think that’s what my husband’s planning.”

But Chopra also offered some good advice for other newlyweds. “I would just tell brides out there, whatever your priority is, is right. It doesn’t matter if your priority is work, that’s right,” she said. “If your priority is honeymoon, that’s right. If your priority is doing nothing, that’s right too. Because as newlyweds, it’s really your turn. You get to do whatever you want. And with us, these are the choices we took that work for us.”

Cheers, you two! Hope you get some time off soon.

Michelle Obama's Advice to Meghan Markle? 'Don't Be in a Hurry to Do Anything'

Screen%20Shot%202018-12-03%20at%208.42.26%20AM.png

Michelle Obama has some words of wisdom for Meghan Markle—and, honestly, she might be one of the few people in the world who can actually relate to how the Duchess of Sussex might be feeling in her new, very public life. They have a lot in common: Both are highly accomplished American women of color who have been thrust into the spotlight in part because of the jobs of their husbands—and then scrutinized for everything from their fashion choices to their work.

“Like me, Meghan probably never dreamt that she’d have a life like this, and the pressure you feel—from yourself and from others—can sometimes feel like a lot,” Obama said in a new interview with Good Housekeeping.

“So my biggest piece of advice would be to take some time and don’t be in a hurry to do anything. I spent the first few months in the White House mainly worrying about my daughters, making sure they were off to a good start at school, and making new friends before I launched into any more ambitious work. I think it’s OK—it’s good, even—to do that,” she continued.

It may be simple, but that’s pretty sound advice. It seems like the duchess may already be following it too. While she has already taken on her first royal tour and a big solo project with the Together cookbook, created with the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen, she has yet to announce any of her official patronages, though much hard work is certainly going on behind the scenes.

The two women also share a passion for girls’ and women’s empowerment. “What I’d say is that there’s so much opportunity to do good with a platform like that—and I think Meghan can maximize her impact for others, as well her own happiness, if she’s doing something that resonates with her personally,” Obama also said.

We should all keep that in mind when thinking about how we approach our own jobs and projects—even if the world won’t be watching our every move. And we will continue to hold out hope for a joint initiative between these two women.
