A Honeymoon to Remember

This post was originally published on this site

Your honeymoon is the most special holiday you’ll ever take and what destination you pick is just as important as your venue for the big day; it’s where you’ll create those magical memories of your first days of married life and the only time that the focus is entirely on you as a couple.

Exotic escapes

Strolling hand-in-hand across white-sand shores while the waves lap gently at your feet and having a kiss under moon-lit starry skies; sounds heavenly, doesn’t it? Or, how about seeing something new together for the first time, like gorgeous cityscapes from high above or a spectacular natural wonder? Whatever type of couple you are and no matter what you’re looking for, your faraway fantasies can become your reality on your honeymoon.

Share the experience of snorkelling under crystal-clear waters, spotting colourful fish between the coral reefs in Mauritius. Take up a cooking class and learn how to cook authentic Caribbean cuisine that you can recreate at home, to remind you of your magical time away. If you’re more of a adventurous couple, you could explore the ancient Chichen Itza ruins or zip line at Xel-Há park in Mexico. Why not head to the States for a sightseeing extravaganza, starting in the Big Apple and ending amongst the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas.

Romantic getaway but not too far away

Of course, you don’t need to spend long hours on a plane to have an amazing honeymoon; you could visit somewhere just over the Channel (and a little bit more!) and still have the time of your lives. Secluded coves in Croatia, intimate tavernas in Spain and some breathtakingly beautiful landscapes await in our closer to home destinations.

Take a boat trip to a deserted island and enjoy a picnic, just the two of you; relax after the big day with a couple’s pamper session in a spa; capture your special time together with a photoshoot within your hotel’s lush landscaped gardens. With places like the Canaries, Greece and Cyprus being a shorter flight, it’s quite easy to make your honeymoon a family affair. Meaning, you can take the kids along too and celebrate the lives you’ve created together, as well as you both tying the knot.

European cities of love

For something a little different, you could take a tour of some of Europe’s most romantic cities. Start in Paris, where all romantic excursions should begin. Pop over to Amsterdam and enjoy a Dutch pastry before heading out on a tandem bike ride. Let Berlin inspire you with its impressive architecture; from Brandenburg Gate to the German Historical Museum. Then, complete your tour of love in Venice. Another one of the most romantic cities in Europe, step onto a gondola and let the romance of the city wind you through its famous canals.

Make it extra special

Many hotels offer complimentary touches for those celebrating their honeymoon, to add a little extra something to make your stay as special as it should be.

Imagine arriving at your hotel to find your room has been upgraded, and there’s a chilled bottle of champagne with chocolate-covered strawberries waiting for you. You could be having an extra-long lie-in and morning snuggles when you receive a knock at the door to let you know that breakfast has been delivered; perfect to enjoy in bed together. Or, your last evening in paradise could be spent having a private dinner on the beach lit purely by candlelight. Each hotel offers something different to make it the honeymoon you’ve been dreaming of.
