The 5 Best Vacation Package Sites

Vacation package sites enable customers to book some combination of flights, hotels, and rental cars together as part of a single trip itinerary. Some companies only allow flight and hotel bundles, but others give you the chance to mix and match the different options as you see fit. When choosing the best vacation package site, the first and most important consideration is what type of travel package you need. Then, it’s a good idea to look into what kinds of savings are available for booking your entire trip itinerary together in one place. Some companies give discounts of over 40% to customers who do this. And, of course, you should also check out what kinds of search tools the site offers to speed up the booking process. The five companies listed below are some of the best in terms of their vacation packages and offer deals on all types of…

TIME TO LEAF AND BRANCH OUT on the Oceanh

Apologies for that terrible pun but this spectacular and hard to spot creature is a Leaf Scorpionfish (Taenianotus triacanthus), it is the sole member of its genus and that makes it pretty special in our books. They get their name due to their thin bodies that waft like a leaf in the currents, this is only one of their camouflage techniques. If that wasn’t enough it can also have colour variations throughout it’s life, every 10-14 days it molts and can change it’s colour after this. Left Scorpionfish can be red, yellow, orange, green, brown, pink or white, with a whole host of patterns to help it camouflage. That’s not a beard growing around its mouth but many tiny branches of skin mimicking algae. It can also have real algae or hydroids attached to it attracting smaller fish to come closer. Once the small fish is lured in the huge…

Flytographer Photographer in Maldives would change your island Vacation

Your days of awkwardly wielding a selfie stick over the beaches of Maldives are over.  Flytographer, the brainchild of entrepreneur Nicole Smith, is basically the Airbnb for vacation Instagram photos. The app connects tourists, honeymooners, and out-of-towners with local photographers, eliminating the need for selfie sticks and unnecessary “Will you take our photo?” conversations. The idea sparked when Smith, an avid traveler herself, was vacationing in Paris to spend time with her best friend. “Disappointed with awkward selfies and the blurry photos strangers had snapped, we asked a local friend to take some candid shots of us enjoying the city together,” explains Smith in an interview with InStyle. “After 20 minutes of this, I looked at the images on my iPhone and realized I had the best souvenir possible: priceless memories with my BFF in Paris.” Aside from the obvious Instagram value, Smith’s service creates timeless memories while supporting local artists and…

Mysterious “beach cusps” observed in Fuvahmulah

I was baffled and amazed to see the picture uploaded by Nasih Thaath in Fuvahmulah online that unfolds the mysterious beach formation in the northern beach -thoondu- of our island. People say everything about Fuvahmulah is unique and mysterious. That i s true. Thoondu is a phenomenal place.   It is the most breathtaking and mysterious beach in the Maldivian archipelago. Twenty years ago, the white sandy beach was so vast that it stretched hundreds of meters across  the northern tip of our island, creating natural phenomenon that puzzled and attracted thousands of people. The edge of the sand adjoining the beach was so slanted that we used the base of the coconut leaf (beedi) to glide down the sand. It was skiing. Hold on! Lets look at the mysterious beach formation in Thaath’s picture. Some pictures similar to these have gone viral on the internet in other parts of  the…

HOW TO HONEYMOON IN THE MALDIVES

There are few places in the world that have captured my heart quite like the Maldives. I mean sure, I can’t give a solid answer as to my favorite place in the world on a good day… but this country would have to be up there in the few I can count on one hand! Recently myself and my partner set off on a not-our-honeymoon honeymoon trip to experience the Maldives as it is so well set up for – as a couple. So… wondering how to honeymoon in the Maldives? We’ve got you covered!     Make sure you try all of the activities The Maldives are a collection of…

10 of the world’s most quirky restaurants

Sure, the quality of the food is usually the main reason to try a new restaurant. But at these 10 eateries, the experience is about more than taste. Recently highlighted by TripAdvisor.com, these wonderfully strange restaurants just might change your definition of dining out. The Rock (Zanzibar, Tanzania) It’s exactly what it sounds like. The Rock restaurant is perched on a rock off Michanvi Ringwe Beach on the southeast coast of Zanzibar. With just 12 tables, The Rock is small. But if you’re lucky enough to get one you’ll enjoy unforgettable views of the sea and coast. Originally a fishermen’s post, the restaurant specializes in seafood. The octopus salad is a great start before “the Rock special” of lobster, cigal, jumbo prawn, fish fillet and calamari on the grill. The restaurant is accessible by foot during low tide and via boat transfer during high tide. The Treehouse Restaurant at the Alnwick Garden (Alnwick, England) Have a…

The history of Maldives with Kurumba Maldives as the first One Resort One 1 Island,

Kurumba – The Beginning Tourism: an industry that brought prosperity and progress to the Maldives. It began with Kurumba’s opening in 1972. At the time, this remote archipelago, inhabited only by fisher folk, was unknown to the outside world, with no foreign investment. There was only a small airstrip on Hulhule Island (the present international airport), built by volunteers, with no regular flights. Mohamed Umar Maniku, Universal Enterprises’ Chairman, recalls: “We had nothing in the Maldives then, nothing. No Banks, no airport, no telephones only ham radio or Morse code contact with Colombo. Even the UNDP experts said that tourism would never succeed because there were no facilities, no infrastructure.” Here was an industry that could have easily missed its chance to grow, yet tourism flourished thanks to the right people in the right place at the right time, and the passion and determination of its young Maldivian founders. It…

From Thilas to Kandus: Scuba Diving in the Maldives

With 20 atolls and around 1,200 islands the Maldives are, without doubt, one of the finest dive sites that our Blue Planet has to offer. Almost every diver dreams about visiting this stunning archipelago at least once in their lifetime. The azure blue lagoons surrounding the islands of the Maldives draw in visitors from across the world, each seeking to explore the underwater world while snorkeling or scuba diving. The variety of intact reefs and colorful marine life is spectacular to witness, but the attraction of the Maldives goes beyond the underwater world. The sight of the dreamy white sand beaches, palm trees and dense green vegetation is equally beautiful and unique.
